Maybe it isn't the horses?

Either that, or people breeding horses are the dumbest set of humans alive. I mean, we keep breeding the best to the best and horses keep getting slower and slower.

maybe part of it is how breeders define 'the best' these days...which isn't a stellar career, but a string of three or four races won followed by a quick retirement before a horse sullies his name by losing once in a while. it hasn't been a 'better the breed' effort for decades now-it's a bettering the bottom line goal.

Maybe, but I really don't think horses are slowing, particularly at the rate Beyer has them slowing. Horses used to approach 130, now a 110 is a champion.

Do you know the figures TF assigned for the races. I thought the fillies race was the more impressive but would like to see the figures.

I think a lot of our best bloodlines have been siphoned overseas ( you know, by the people that supposedly...but actually don't....thumb their noses at us due to medication that they use ) over the last 30 or more years and that has had a distinct negative affect on out top racehorses.
