Sorry guys, I don't know why I'm posting this now-

Did anyone watch ESPN's coverage of horse racing this past weekend? When they were showing the horses loading into the starting gate at Belmont... Kenny Mayne said something f'n hilarious in his patented non-chalant monotoned way:

"The horses are now loading into the Earthlink starting gate (seriously Earthlink was sponsoring the loading of horses into the gate lol)... Earthlink- a fine maker of starting gates across the country" lol

He said it all non-chalant... and I had to think about it for a sec, and then I just started laughing. I couldn't quit laughing for like 5 minutes. It's just that normal goofball attitude of Mayne's that lightens the coverage up. I like it.

I DID hear that, and mentioned it to my 12-yr-old son, also watching. I figured Earthlink had sponsored the race, but they were actually sponsoring the loading?? That makes it even funnier.

I thought it was funny when Bailey was finished saying he didn't think Lava Man had a shot and Mayne said something like; now back to the guy who might have something nice to say.

All summer, every time he would say, "Eeen-va-soaaar... heeee's da behsssst" I would crack up. I really enjoy the ESPN broadcasts lately.

From Wikipedia:

ESPN hired Mayne in 1994 after Mayne had sent ESPN a note inquiring whether or not the network would hire him. The note simply asked to check a box, including one option which read, "We'll hire you when there's an ESPN5."

I really like Mayne. No, he's not a hardcore insider like Bailey, but ge's a funny guy and relates well to the everyday fan.

I've heard people totally bash Kenny Mayne but I love him...his dry humor makes me laugh every time. I did catch the starting gate thing when I watched the broadcast last night and it cracked me up.
