9/5: Colonial Downs Steeplechase and flat Race 1 - 4

Colonial Downs ends their steeplechase meet with 3 races and a special 2 mile turf race for jumpers that ran but did not win at Colonial. There is a pick 4 starting race 1, pick 3 for races 1 and 2 and a double in race 3. Selections are listed in order of preference.

Race 1 is a Maiden Special Weight with an eclectic field of 1st time jumpers, long layoff runners and only 1 coming off a jump race at Colonial. Tough to read the 1st time jumpers so there could be a surprise. #7 St. John’s from owners Bruton Street never finished his 2 jump race attempts and will get over bet because owners Bruton Street in the jump world are equivalent to owners My Racehorse in the flat world with deep pockets that get emptied when betting. Possible underneath runners in exotics are #3 Praghas Ceart (2nd) , #6 Beowulf, #8 Pebbly Pour Toi.

Race 2 is a restricted Maiden Special Weight that has some class droppers coming out of regular Maiden Special Weight attempts. Possible underneath runners in exotics are #9 Laker Mamba, #4 Greylover.

Race 3 is a tough restricted filly and mare handicap Life’s Illusion Stake that has an 18 pound weight spread that brings the field close together. Very hard to separate the top contenders so spread in your horizontal wagers. Several have run against the boys and are now running against their own sex and light weight usually does well in handicaps.
