After Fear the Kitten didn't get in the Derby I assumed that they would finally move him to the grass. Apparently not. I don't get it.

Although I guess, given the pace and the sloppy surface of the Derby he probably would have been a real factor if he had gotten in. I guess they're hoping for similar scenarios in the Peter Pan and then the Belmont.

Even without the Wood Memorial, Freedom Child ran only 2 lengths behind Orb and defeated Revolutionary in a maiden race. No matter the slow time, that seems like a quality run to me.

Then he lost to Saint Vigeur, but if you watch the start of that race Freedom Child had the far outside post which feels like a death sentence in a Gulfstream route. Saint Vigeur had the rail.

After that, Freedom Child won his maiden and defeated Belarmine, the colt that defeated Code West last weekend.

Then came the disastrous Wood Memorial. I don't know why his odds were so huge in that race. He could have made some noise.
