That was an incredible effort by Rosario to lose the Zagora. I really don’t want to think he stiffed the horse but how else do you explain why it took him so long to get outside after checking behind the tiring pacesetter?

His instructions must have been "don't pass Beau Belle until the 1/4 pole", the only probably was that Beau Belle had already relinquished the lead a furlong earlier.

Meanwhile Velasquez had a hammer lock on the Pletcher horse the entire backstretch, to the point that the filly bobbled while under stout restraint entering the far turn. Fighting your mount that much always works out well...
