I'm confused. Did NBC Sports just say Cairo Prince hasn't run in 118 days? He ran in the Holy Bull on Jan 25 which they mentioned as well so they got that part right. They referenced the number of days and then said 4 months later on in that segment. Did they mean another horse? Cairo Prince was on the screen, and could've sworn they were referring to him.

Cairo Prince ran like a horse who was not fit or tough enough to win a race like the Florida Derby. Since the prevailing wisdom of horse trainers is to race less I have no idea if McLaughlin and Godolphin were using the Florida Derby as STIFF CONDITIONING exercise.
His 20 something points may leave him looking at the Derby from the outside. |
