Anybody know what happened to the horse in the first race paddock at Toga yesterday?
I got up there a little late yesterday and I guess after the jockey mounted the 7 horse in the paddock, the horse flipped backwards and either broke his neck or back. Happened right in front of everyone kids and all. They put the tarp up and had to put him down in the paddock. Dont know if anyone else saw that or had info about what happened.

Filly dies in paddock: It’s My Day, a 3-year-old filly, flipped in the paddock and died before Sunday’s first race.
NYRA announced It’s My Day died from a fracture at the base of her skull. The accident happened during the post parade, when It’s My Day reared and fell, according to witnesses. Jockey Miguel Mena was caught under the horse and injured his knee. He was taken by cart to first aid but wasn’t seriously hurt. He was removed from his mount in the fourth race because of swelling in the knee. It’s My Day, who was 1-for-7 lifetime, was owned by Alex G. Campbell Jr. and trained by Robert Reinacher. http://blog.timesunion.com/horseraci...notebook/2193/ |
