Some pretty nice names on this one. The field, discounting the odds, seems like a pretty bad play.

Dortmund seems like a decent play at anything near the ML.

ASHER: Derby Sire prop bet a possibility..

http://www.courier-journal.com/story...-bet/70104350/

Churchill Downs is exploring the possibility of adding a Kentucky Derby future wager option that would involve betting on which stallion will sire the eventual Derby winner.

Churchill spokesman John Asher said Tuesday that the track doesn't have immediate plans to implement the bet, but that the first step is to get approval for it from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. The wager is on the agenda for the KHRC's meeting next Tuesday in Lexington.

The Derby sire wager would mimic the format of the current Kentucky Derby Future Wager, in its 17th year, with 23 individual horses and a 24th betting interest that would include all other sires.

If I had to choose 5. I would take Blofeld and Classy Class who IMO could be as good as anyone, but they could both be distance challenged. Then Frosted, Imperia and Lord Nelson. Those would be the Joey S big 5.

Frosted and Dortmund would be the two for me that are worth the odds at this point. Texas Red, Ocho Ocho Ocho, and Upstart are also ones I'm keeping an eye on but at this point the value might not be worth the risk.

Depending on Dortmund's performance Saturday at Churchill will definitely influence his closing price on Sunday. 45-1 at Wynn is the way to go especially if he takes care of business on Saturday. Good luck

And I thought people taking 12:1 on American Pharoah were silly....but then I saw the odds on Dortmund!

Hilarious.

Upstart, on the other hand, at 53:1 is pretty interesting.

Eagle at 54-1 was an interesting value play. He didn't have an ideal trip and finished well at Churchill. He's in good hands and should only get better.

Dortmund looked awesome again, but 9-1 at this point is ridiculous. The play was to lock it in at 45-1 at Wynn.

Overall, this early pool gets people more familiar with the prospects moving forward.

I thought Silver Ride, the runner up coming out of the Dortmund race, looked interesting.

The funniest one might be Frosted, who ran an impressive race against the bias in the Remsen, going off at 38:1. I am not saying this is a great price, but in relative terms compared to Dortmund, it's downright incredible.
