The form of Fire Lily in the Nearctic absolutely TOWERS over this field, it's not even close, and the 115 pounds she carries is a massive edge.

Absolutely ridiculous that these four races don't make up a Pick Four. Both Pick Fours are unplayable with the way they were carded.
Nice races nonetheless!!!

Outside post and the TGH figures seem to play against Pat, but if your right you'll get paid fairly well here. Sometimes it is difficult to know when TGH figures are inaccurate with foreign shippers. You seem convinced about this one....

Yeah, so, Fire Lily...awful.
Joshua Tree, on the other hand, is one of the great horses in training. 2nd win in the race, now 20 starts in nine countries. Love seeing that, especially when you compare it to connection not even willing to try a more ambitious campaign. |

No all-stakes p4 at Woodbine
I've regularly seen/heard Woodbine ridiculed for not putting an all-stakes pick four together in recent years, or at least grouping their big G1 stakes races. It was mentioned in the stakes thread for this weekend too. The numbers suggest they aren't making the wrong decision.
For the last four years, they've run these races on the same weekend...the only difference between the races from 2009-2010 when they did group the stakes, and 2011-2012 when they didn't, is that they used to run these races on a Saturday. Presumably, there is more money available on Saturdays, but less overall stakes action on Sundays. Then again, they go up against the NFL, etc. But as far as the numbers are concerned, they seem to be doing just fine scheduling things the way they have. 2009 early p4 (no stakes) - $73k 2010 early p4 (no stakes) - $86k 2011 early p4 (with Nearctic) - $126k 2012 early p4 (with Durham Cup, Nearctic) - $164k 2009 late p4 (all 3 stakes, 41 horses total) - $128k 2010 late p4 (all 3 stakes, 45 horses total) - $216k 2011 late p4 (2 stakes, 47 horses total) - $198k 2012 late p4 (2 stakes, 45 horses total) - $288k 2009 p4 totals = $201k 2010 p4 totals = $302k 2011 p4 totals = $324k 2012 p4 totals = $452k 2009 total Int'l day handle: $5.802m 2010: $6.322m 2011: $6.400m 2012: $6.326m |

Woodbine has always carded their big stakes for Sundays since the 80's, with some exceptions.
And besides, its better to have a pick 4 with two allowances race and two stakes with full fields, than four stakes with small fields. |
