I think we've already seen some really promising performances from several 3 yo colts this year. If American Pharoah runs to all of the commentary about him on twitter, this is going to be a very interesting Triple Crown season.

Perfect comeback race for AP. Absolutely no speed in the race on paper. Couldn't ask for an easier set up for a first start out.

It wouldn't be the 2015 Triple Crown season if a Baffert trainee didn't get a cozy setup and rapidly become the next super horse.

Well, he does start his season off a 2yo Championship.

What's his responsibility for lining up opponents?

Not Baffert's fault by any means. With the Southwest being pushed back, OP was always up against it in terms of filling the Rebel field.

American Pharaoh is a wildly hyped horse who has gotten a ton of mileage out of a wire-to-wire win where he set an incredibly slow pace then a series of workouts. Yes, the also-rans from his last start came back to perform well, but they were the compromised ones.

Perhaps I'm overly critical and still smarting a bit from Dortmund's cupcake trip a week ago. One of these days they will face even a modicum of adversity in a race.

The question is does he run faster than the razorback. I think he does.

Gold Medal Dancer is the right play for the Azeri, with the scratch of Sugar Shock. Hoping for uncontested lead.

That was embarrassing. JV just needed to go all in on the turn and play come and catch me, but he got cute. As Drugs has called numerous times in the past, the Assman ain't so good off the layoff.

Thanks. I think Untapable ran fine too, for her first 2015 start. She just needed one.

You can't tell much by either Untapable or American Pharoah's race today with the conditions. Unless it rains and we have the same conditions on the bid days coming up. AP set easy fractions on an off track. He was running easy (like a work out in the rain) and the others were working a lot harder to stay up and they had no chance. This may be telling . . . or not!? Maybe he is that much better than the rest . . . much better than the ones he ran against today for sure.

Lets see what he does next on fast track. AS for Untapable, I agree that she needed this race and playing her to win was chancey and too easy. She' better than she showed today no doubt.
