V.E. Day will scratch from Knickerbocker; Fayette at Keeneland possibly next

V.E. Day will scratch from Saturday's Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park, trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Friday, who added that he will consider running the 2014 Travers winner next in the Grade 2, $200,000 Fayette Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 25.

Jerkens said if he was going to run V.E. Day on turf again, he'd prefer to do it on firmer ground than what he believes currently exists at Belmont Park. Also, rain was forecast for late Friday afternoon and Friday night, further moistening the turf course.
