Default Big Brown's Shoes

There was supposedly a new type of aluminum shoe that BB wore for the first time in the Fla Derby? It was something that Kirian M has been testing and Dutrow heard about it and asked if he could get them for BB because of his known foot issues.

Is this backstretch fodder or an interesting angle?

Dutrow spoke about them on Steve's show the monday (I think) after the Florida Derby.

He basically said, that he had no more worries about the horse's feet since he's used the shoes. I wouldn't expect him to say anything else, so I took it with a massive grain of salt.

He didn't expound on them too much, but it's worth checking out on the archives.

Default Big Brown schedule

spoke to the guys at IEAH yesterday and they told me that he is to work on the 24th, fly on the 28th. work 3/8's on the 1st at churchill. His feet are not even thought of as an issue as they are cold as ice. They also told me that his tongue tie broke in the florida derby and his tongue actually got caught over the bit and he still managed to freak. They are so happy with him they are on cloud nine. If soundness is a worry for anybody, it certainly is not with them. To there credit they felt this horse was going to get them to the KD all along....

I'm actually a fan of BB, and think he is a deserving favorite for the derby, despite the lack of seasoning.
That being said, to say they knew he would get them to the derby all along is a bit of an exaggeration, especially since he might still be running on turf if that allowance race didn't get rained off in early March.

I have an unraced 3yo in Florida with continuing foot problems only relieved by training shoeless. I know Big Brown's problems were reported as quarter cracks, but I wonder if this may help our problem.

This is of course a laughable lie. They had no idea what they had other than a potentially nice horse until the Gulfstream comebacker. I'll reiterate to you that if IEAH publicity director Mike Sherack wants to come here and start threads with authorized press releases, I'm happy to have them. Otherwise, go get the reaction you crave by taking this crap someplace where the uninformed will coo over it.

So comedy, they THOUGHT they were going go the Derby all along, yet the comebacker was suppose to be on the turf. I love it.

I hate cheering against horses for anything other than the obvious reasons. But this dude's posts have been annoying since Day 1

For people who do not know Mr. Dutrow,
and have seen his success and heard about the bravado,
I would like to know more. I have enquired as to
how he gets horses in such good shape. I guess
he stumbled upon Big Brown on the dirt... very interesting.

Of course I would like to know more about the
man who seems to be none to popular on this
board. I get the sense that people want him
and his horses to lose. I would like to know why.
So maybe I can also root against his horses.

I am silly romantic in that I like the good guys to win.
I like the trainers that are relative unknowns, that have
worked hard all their lives fairly, to get a chance to win a
really big race. So who do I root for in the Derby at
present? And why must I root against Dutrow?

Default big brown

big brown is the deserving favorite for the derby. with the little experience he has and the ability he has shown, there is no tellin what the limits are for this horse, through extensive race replay footage his time in the florida derby was fastest of any prep race and the fractions were the fastest of any race. kent desourmeaux also has stated thats big brown is the best horse he has ever rode
