Default Oh no, scuds just jumped...

BAD inning for LA including Broxton giving up a home run to a guy who retired like 9 years ago.

Hit 13 already this year. I've seen him do a lot of damage against the Halos etc. VICTORINO can really hit a breaking ball. Broxton's was simply Broxton being Broxton. Inconsistent control, and simply a horrible pitch.

That was a BIG double play in the 8th. A man on base with Manny in the batter's box is not a good feeling right about now.

EDIT: Lidge on the hill in the 8th is a rarity this year... Gear up!!

Yeah, Eithier got tight. Martin got a lil tight earlier on the line drive out to 2nd(that has to be a sacrifice fly at bat.) Could of gone differently. Gunna have to have better at bats in those situations if they are ever gunna get to a top level.

You got a hell of a hitter in that Victorino. He has just been too good for us. He has killed us in this series.

I just got in an friendly argument in Rite-Aid today about Victorino. The guy said he's not as fast as he should be and that he's a very spotty hitter. Ummm?? I told the guy to put the pipe down and its not even up for debate.

I love how Utley and SV play the game. Loney seems to be one of those player too. Dude's got a cannon for an arm and is scary as $hit in the box.

Story of this series is the same fkn 2 guys I've been talking about the whole year( Billingsley, and Broxton.) They are too inconsistent to ever go above this level. THEY'VE BEEN IGNORING THAT ALL YEAR. You can't beat a team like this unless you consistently play well. Those 2 pitchers have been inconsistent for over 2 years. Might have been able to overcome some of it if we had the much more consistent Saito healthy, but we don't.

That 2012 end of the world s.hit? I'll start believing if Philly wins the World Series...or any other major sport championship for that matter. And no...Bon Jovi's Arena Rockers don't count.

Good work by Lidge thus far. I rescind my tongue-in-cheek comment that he's terrible. Still think he blows one before it's all said and done though.

Matt Stairs either looks like a coach or Todd Jones....

First win this year by the away team. Home team was 11-0 in LA/Phi games this year.

I was told this is an original quote from Matt Stairs last night...

Not that I don’t feel like I’m part of the team, but when you get that nice celebration coming in the dugout and you’re getting your ass hammered by guys, there’s no better feeling than to have that done.

I'd pay a $1000 to have those guys hammer Broxton.

Evidently, the reason Kuo got taken out in the 8th wasn't just because he let Howard get on base. His elbow tightened up between innings. The guy goes from blowing people away in the 7th to bouncing warm-up pitches in the 8th. Torre said he had no choice but to take him out. Gotta be healthy. Dodgers(Saito n' Kuo) and Redsox(Beckett n' Lowell) paying high price for having some key people hurt or bothered. At this level, and over 7 games, your weaknesses are gunna get exposed. For some reason, Broxton seems to lose a lot on his fastball when he pitches consecutive nights. They say that was a fastball, but his fastball should be about 98mph and fluttering up or down. Whatever he got hurt on wasn't going very fast, and it was only moving horizontally. I've seen him do it more than I'd like to admit, and that same crappy location. Either his arm didn't have the pop he had the night before, or he just got tight. Control was poor. Just too inconsistent to be a closer on back to back nights. Cory Wade can pitch back to back nights...no problem. Pitches weren't biting as well as they did Sunday...LIL TIGHT. I've been watching games played there for 35 years now, and that ball Victorino hit was very odd. It was a line drive arc. The bull p is gunna be a question mark again next year. We could sure use a starter that can go deep into games. If we lose out on Manny, I wouldn't be surprised if we get in the running for Sabathia. We are gunna have Kuroda, Billygoat, Kershaw, Brother McLurch, but no Lowe. Either Detroit or Boston seems to be his destination. We got Schmidt taking another 15 mil from us next year, and probably again we will get zero, zip, nada from that stiff. Penny appears to be done. He hasn't really been pitching for a while. He kinda does this push/shot-put motion. His shoulder seems pretty bad. Seems to be in denial about it. Kept coming back off layoffs with nothing to offer. Who knows if he will ever pitch again.
