If you are trying to get Scuds head to explode, this may just work.

I think Kent will get in, maybe not the first few years on the ballot but his numbers are too good as a 2nd baseman to keep him out.

Why Dave "Kong" Kingman?

Side note: Mets referred to Kent as Jeff Cant

Scuds: Get on the Herd. He's kissing Garvey's butt right now.

Do you think if he accrued those numbers as an outfielder, he'd be the lock to get in that people say he is now? I think the reason he is getting in is because his offensive stats (17 years of em) blow away the HOF's that played 2nd base.

I wouldnt vote him in. Good thing I don't get a vote.

Johnny Miller+ Jeff Kent= The two A-HOLES at the top of the corporation. Mormon Executives in charge(just like old-school Vegas politics.)

Why would you compare an outfielder to a 2nd baseman? You should be comparing him to other 2nd baseman of his generation and historically. On that he is a cinch to get in. Using your argument no shortstop other than Honus Wagner would be in and virtually no 2nd basemen.

Why are you so big on the defensive positions that players played at? I can see taking some defensive stand outs etc., but the rest should qualify on offensive numbers versus other players of any position. Maybe ya make an exception for catchers, but for 2nd baseman/shortstop? Sandberg n' Kent are questionable HOF types(to me.)

I am never gunna understand Kent. In my book, you play to win, and you can't win unless the team is "one." If he wanted a ring, he needed to worry about one thing....the team. Not whether someone came late, or early to the game. There are reasons why there are managers and coaches. One of them is to be critical of players, and make them get better. If players are doing that to each other, right away, it separates the team into separate parts. You want wholeness(one heart.) I feel Kent would have a ring if he and Barry Bonds were "one" when they played together. They got caught up in rules, and procedure. One wanted less, and the other wanted more. Both are A-holes, and that's why neither will get a ring...ever.

Do you want me to list the guys who would be out based on this line of thinking? You compare players at each position. It is a simple concept and hardly debatable.

Give me a list of the HOF members who wouldn't measure up (offensively.) Then give me the players who would take their place(offensively better, but didn't play at the 2nd-shortstop position.) Biggio is gunna be a future example. A pretty mediocre player that is possibly gunna get in due to playing catcher-2nd base(and hanging on like favorite bones on a necklace.)
