Hong Kong Raiders!
I know, I know but hey... they didn't get their own thread for Dubai OR for Singapore so it's actually late this year!
Time once again for those glorious geldings to launch an invasion. The Yasuda Kinen is on Sunday, June 6th. (Oh wow, that's D Day). The glorious news... http://japanracing.jp/_news2010/100520.html http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...s20100519b.asp The JRA preview... http://japanracing.jp/_news2010/100521-03.html The final barrier trial (batch 3)... http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/btrs.asp Awww... http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...d20100519s.jpg ... but My Miss Storm Cat you may say... why one earth are we discussing it here when surely it's on both the Japan and HK threads? Ummm... because it's the raiders we're talking about! The one, the only, the spectacular Bullish Luck winning for Hong Kong (yes I do talk about him any chance I get. Replay on the first link - JRA)... http://www.hkjc.com/english/news/ima...ews_5996_l.jpg More (flight info, etc) to come. |

TRAINING REPORT
60th Running of the Yasuda Kinen (G1) Training Report of Foreign Entrees June 1, 2010 (Tuesday) at Tokyo Race Course BEAUTY FLASH (NZL, g5, chestnut) - jogged 1/4 lap, slow cantered 3/4 lap on dirt course (exercised from 7:36 AM to 7:45 AM, ridden by Chung Hon Tse) "Until now, I don’t see him having any problems with the left-handed course—he will show us more on Thursday when he gallops. We have him on a constant training program since his last race, and we’re happy that his tune up is going smoothly." (comments taken from Chung Hon Tse) * weight after training: 522kg FELLOWSHIP (NZL, g8, bay) - jogged 1/4 lap, slow cantered 3/4 lap on dirt course (exercised from 7:36 AM to 7:45 AM, ridden by Hau Lai Suen) "At first he was a little nervous after he arrived but now he’s calmed down. His form is good and I think he will have a good race on Sunday. According to the exercise rider, the horse seemed comfortable with the left-handed course this morning." (comments taken from Wai Hung Wong) * weight after training: 514kg SIGHT WINNER (NZL, g7, bay) - worked lightly in infield arena (approx. 12 min.), jogged 1/3 lap, cantered 1-3/4 laps, walked 1/3 lap on dirt course (exercised from 7:33 AM to 8:00 AM, ridden by John Size) "His condition is fine. He’s eating all his feed and he was relaxed on the track this morning. Being that it’s his second trip here and being a year older, we expect that he’s traveled a little bit better. He’s settled in quite nicely and I’m not worried about his condition. He’s in good shape. I haven’t seen the script or the figures regarding the Japanese horses just yet, but I hope his experience here last year will work as an advantage for him. Tomorrow’s training will be similar to what he did today. The jockey, Craig Williams, will not be riding him until the race, so I’ll be riding him on Thursday when he gallops on the dirt course. " (comments taken from John Size) * weight after training: 474kg * * * TRAINING REPORT 60th Running of the Yasuda Kinen (G1) Training Report of Foreign Entrees June 2, 2010 (Wednesday) at Tokyo Race Course BEAUTY FLASH (NZL, g5, chestnut) - jogged 1/4 lap, slow cantered 3/4 lap on dirt course (exercised from 7:33 AM to 7:43 AM, ridden by Chung Hon Tse) "He’s in the same good condition and feels good. The trainer, Mr. Cruz, will be here tomorrow morning when the horse gallops as scheduled." (comments taken from Chung Hon Tse) FELLOWSHIP (NZL, g8, bay) - jogged 1/4 lap, slow cantered 3/4 lap on dirt course (exercised from 7:33 AM to 7:43 AM, ridden by Hau Lai Suen) "He's happy and looking good. Our trainer Mr. O'Sullivan will arrive tomorrow and we will gallop the horse as planned—whether on dirt or turf, I'm not sure yet. The horse is eating well and has almost recovered to his best form. Mentally, he is now mature enough to handle the overseas trip just fine. I hope he can demonstrate his ability in the race." (comments taken from Wai Hung Wong) SIGHT WINNER (NZL, g7, bay) - worked lightly in infield arena (approx. 8 min.), jogged 1/3 lap, cantered 1-3/4 laps, walked on dirt course (exercised from 7:34 AM to 7:57 AM, ridden by John Size) "The horse is in good shape, is in good spirit and is relaxed. He’s eating well and drinking a lot of water so he needs a reasonable amount of exercise. At home, my horses swim, so in that regard, his training program includes some supplementary work the other two Hong Kong contenders might not have. My regular rider is suspended at the moment, and Craig (Williams) has ridden for me successfully in the past. With Craig already being here in Japan, I decided to ask him to ride Sight Winner in this race. It would be nice if we could get some rain this week. I will be riding the horse for tomorrow’s gallop." (comments taken from John Size) * * * I suppose I don't need to go back another day, huh? PPs... http://japanracing.jp/_news2010/pdf/100526.pdf |

Well no mention of Royal Ascot here but obviously Happy Zero was disappointing.
Joy and Fun had surgery this morning... I didn't realize he'd been vanned off. Has a fracture, poor guy. Hope he'll be okay. |
