Tough decision - would love to come down for the race. Crescent Moon Dr is running in the 1st race of the day too, one of my favorites in Gary's barn. Frigid temps may keep me home....Hoping for a heat wave!

Thought it was just me that thought that. Cohen squeezed up there and pushed her right out. Can't wait to hear about what really happened down there

Having said that, she was not winning. Not sure why she quit if it, was she intimidated by the contact, did she not change leads or did she just not have it. |

Just another check..Cha ching
There is potential class relief, she will be fine and wire a softer group. it might be tough to get her thru an allowance but she has plenty of early gas. I doubt she would get claimed on a drop and the purses are still ok at the claiming level. I thought she ran ok just a tough group.. |

Improved effort today without the blinkers. Nobody was going to beat the winner who was 5 lengths clear at the wire, but AC was only 3 1/2 lengths behind the place horse

Just off the phone with Gary who was pleased overall with what can only be called an encouraging effort from the filly. Chucky liked her a lot and said she felt great. She bobbled at the break, but he gathered her and got her out quickly. She was starting to tire a bit at the top of the stretch and the bump kind of took a little more out of her, but she finished with interest. The winner was not losing today obviously, but being beaten 3 lengths by the other trio likely earns Ausable towards a high 50's Beyer, back in the right direction.
Clearly, getting her out of the blinkers was a key, and Gary has been changing up her training and some other things as well. He's having her jog more and gallop less, as one thing he wants to see from her is some weight gain. There was also some tweaking done by the farrier. We'll get other starts in over the winter, but turf sprinting is likely the right target for Ausable come spring. More tomorrow to see how she came out overnight. In the meantime, Lloydobler came out of his race Thursday in excellent shape, and may consider a 6f MSW at Philly February 6.
