Default Bye bye Dusty, Hello Girardi

ESPN reports that Giradi has ZERO shot of coaching the Marlins next year, the 2nd he becomes available, I guarantee you the Cubs are on in like a fly on ****.

Can Giradi take us to the promiseland, I certainly hope so. For the Cubs sake, they better win sometime soon, they drew their lowest crowd in 40 years the other day. I am not going to fault Dusty because he has had alot of injuries, but he needs to get with the times and if comedy people like Nefi Perez aren't cutting it, cut their asses and bring someone up in the supposed best farm system in baseball.

It might also have something to do with the fact that he's infamously hard on pitchers in terms of overuse. When you alredy got fragile arms in Wood and Prior, Dusty is not what you need. Why would Girardi, who led a group of unproven youngsters to play .500 baseball, leave the Marlins? Would they fire him, or does he not wanna be there anymore. The job he's done with those kids is pretty impressive.

Any reports in Chicago citing this?

Last I heard - Joe is not on the Cubs radar. But it sure would be nice.

I GUARANTEE that the 2nd that Giradi becomes available, as ESPN said, Dusty is bye bye and Hendry is all over Giradi and family. Giradi lives up here, he is a Chicago guy, his dream job besides the Yankees I bet

There has been plenty of speculation here (So Flor) about Girardi going to the Cubs.

Girardi came thisclose to getting fired a month or so ago. They had the conference room all set up and at the last minute some front office people convinced the Marlins owner, Jeff Loria, not to fire him.

Loria went haywire over Girardi not arguing a couple calls vigorously enough on the field. Also, Girardi was against a lot of the personnel decisions the team made during spring training and early in the season, especially on some of the rookie pitchers. Loria's got a little bit of the Jerry Jones thing going on.

I'll be surprised if Girardi is back with the Marlins. It will be odd if he earns NL Manager of the Year then gets fired.

From ESPN.com:

But Girardi's job security has been questioned because of a strained relationship with owner Jeffrey Loria. A much-publicized rift between the men erupted at a game Aug. 6, when Loria berated an umpire while sitting behind the plate. From the dugout, Girardi told or asked the owner to stop, witnesses said. Loria angrily left his seat and confronted Girardi after the game during a 90-minute clubhouse meeting.

Loria wouldn't endorse Girardi when he finally addressed the matter three weeks later.

With two years left on his contract, Girardi would be owed $1.5 million if he is not picked up by another club. With Dusty Baker on the hot seat with the Chicago Cubs, Girardi, a Northwestern graduate and Chicago native, has been rumored as Baker's replacement

The problem I kept hearing in the month of August that Jim Henry was not interested.

Of course this might just be a ploy on his part to not say anything negative about Baker.

At the same time, the Mariners are interested in Baker if and when he becomes available.

Baker is gone, I highly doubt he is here, this team needs a young guy that will get into your face and yell a little, Dusty is too old school for this team
