how are the Cardinals up 1.5 games? they both have 7 games left, does one of them have a rainout that still needs to be played?

The Cards have a makeup game against the SF Giants if necessary.
And I believe they both have 5 games left (without the makeup game), not 7.

Yeah Tim thats how it works. If behind by, or ahead by a 1/2 game at Sunday's end. The Cardinals and Giants have to meet to play the makeup game. Then, lol, if the makup game causes a tie, the cards and astros have to play a playoff game on Tuesday. That would be something else wouldn't it?

Are you sure thats how they do it Mike? If the makeup game causes a tie, wouldnt they go by who has the better head to head record between the Cards and Astros, which by the way the Astros have won 9-7.

I am pretty sure the playoffs start on Tuesday. How could they do another game on Tuesday between the Cards & Astros? I think there is a game scheduled that involves one of these teams, but I could be wrong.

While I hate both teams, I might pray tonight for a Cardinals collapse, some serious ish talking for the WHOLE WINTER.

Cardinals Fan: "Cubs Suck"
ME: "So, at least we knew it was over, your team put you through the pain of being up 10 games and CHOKING, good ole LaRussa using 14 pitchers in a game"
Cardinals fan: "GFY"
Me: "Get ready for this ALL WINTER and Spring"

Gee, I dont hate or even remotely dislike either team. I like good baseball and I like storylines and late season collapses and great finishes. This provides both a great finish and a great collapse. Unless they get in the playoffs its a moot point, but man this is pretty fun! I know which game I'll be watching tonight, and its not the Red Sox!

I cant wait for postseason to start and my team is going to be playing golf in Cape Cod!

Tim yes, they would have a playoff. I know it sounds nuts. What they would do is shuffle the other NL game to Tuesday and lets Cards-Astros winner vs whoever start on Wednesday. They only do best record in a case like Yankees sox last year when both teams are going to the playoffs. If only one is going, they DEFINITELY have a playoff. That rule hasn't changed one bit.

Well in that case then I am rooting for that scenario to happen. More baseball is always better, as long as the game mean something. I am not a Houston fan by any means, nor a Cardinal hater, I just find this all very interesting and something to follow until the playoffs start. Its hard for me to stay up and watch the Dodger/Padre games. They dont end until 1:30am.
