Default Lidle in plane crash?

Just got a call from someone I know who isn't a nut, said the plane crash today in NYC where a small plane hit a building could be the small plane of Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle. This sounds absolutely bizarre, and I hope its not true.

Mike- Sadly I think this is true. At least the plane was registered to Cory Lidle. Turn on 46 now.

What a shame!! He played ball against my son. He went to South Hills HS, and their teams were champs alot of the time. I think he has a brother also. My son was 1 yr behind Jason Giambi and played against Jeremy. Small world!

Lidle was the only person aboard the plane. This is so tragic.

Very sad, the air is just like the water, you must respect it or it will strike you down.

Haha fair enough, was just making sure there wasen't a joke i was missing out on. Just so sad when people die in such a needless way out of either lack of respect for nature or way to much respect in their skills.

So true! I'm not a fan of motorcycles either! 5 friends died on bikes...no accident on a bike is minor

Just watching Sport Center, it said that Cory had been talking lately about the dangers of flying planes and the crash that JFK Jr was in. I feel bad for the guy, but I would hope someone in my family would be smart enough not to put themselves in such a deadly situation as that. It's really sad for his family. He had all the money a man could need, did he really have to fly and put himself in that danger?

FLYING IS SAFE. I feel much safer in a aircraft then i do in a car. I don't know where everyone gets this flying is such a dangerous hobby. Accidents happen in most walks of life. 2 weeks ago, a softball was killed here by a linedrive to the head. Does that mean softball is inherently dangerous... NO. JFK died becuase he thought he was a better pilot then he was. He was not rated to fly in instrument conditions and thought he could. He died because of his own stupidity. I feel sorry for him and his family, but facts are facts. I don't know Lidle's aircraft hit a building. Maybe it was mechanical, maybe it was a medical problem, maybe well never know. The point is flying is not as dangerous as non-aviators imagine.

Timm,I went to West Covina High School.W.C.H.S. had a real mixture of kids from different backgrounds etc. going there. South Hills High School was always considered the rich kids' school. We have had like one guy make it in the majors(Tom Brunansky,)but South Hills has had Giambi,Lidle, and many others.Did they get a really good coaching staff there,or is it a coincidence that they have all these players that made it? I think Haren went to Bishop Amat. That good hitter for the Rangers(Young) went to Covina High School.Lidle still lived out here (in Glendora.)Didn't take long for the News crews to gather outside that house.

Scuds: the talent pool in SoCal was tremendous, and probably continues to be so. There is alot of old money and really nice hacienda's and ranch/horse property south of the 10 Fwy. West Covina/Covina won the Pony League World Series a few times back in the day. The Roenicke brothers grew up in the area also. And...there was quite a crowd outside the Grandparents house in Glendora.
