I think he got a raw deal....I was listening to the game and it didnt appear that Lou was upset! Lyons is an entertaining(although Talky) guy and I don't think he meant any disrespect to Piniella. But that crack about the blind guy was the bananna so it was bound to happen. He's going to talk to big boss, so maybe they'll keep him on! Anyway...Lou's gonna have his hands full with the Cubbies next year!

Timm,you and I hear this guy more than most on here(cuz he and Steiner do Dodger road games that Scully doesn't want to travel to do.) The guy does say a lot of stuff that is borderline appropriate for T.V. This certainly isn't the sharpest guy.I think this firing is a cumulative thing.I am sure he has been warned repeatedly.He doesn't really say anything that's that bad,but the guy just is routinely saying stuff he probably is better off not touching on.

If it was a cumulative thing, i agree with you. If the firing was just based on this, he got jobbed. I'm sure Lyons will get a settlement out of this regardless. He'll argue that hi didn't get a warning bla bla bla and Fox will settle

Seems like this would probably be a case of this being "the last straw." It's not exactly an overly P.C. Company.I mean this is a company that itself is a liar when they promote their Fox News Channel as being "always fair and balanced." They have got maybe one show that is balanced at all.That morning gabfest "Fox and Friends" is an o.k. show,but there is no way you can call that group of people "always fair and balanced." That's a group of Conservative people on a morning show.I am not saying it's wrong to have that,but it's a joke for that Conservative blond lady on there(with the various pink lipshades) to keep calling the show fair and balanced.Then you got O'reilly for an hour a day etc....So,I have named atleast 4-5 hours of Conservative air time right there.Where is the "balanced" part? They have one show a day where 2 opposite guys go at it(as if that solves something.)So,it is a little odd to fire this guy when it is a totally politically incorrect(and actually a liar) Company.I mean this is a Politically Conservative Company,and this guy would hardly be expecting to be fired by this particular company for this.I have heard a lot worse from people on Big Fox,Fox Sports West,and the Fox News Channel.Actually, something they said during one of these games was worse than what Lyons said.I can't remember what it was(probably because I am so use to it.)This is an excuse to dump a guy that they must have been wanting to dump.

I don't know about anything that Lyons has said in the past, but what he said the other day was no big deal at all. He was making a joke. I thought it was funny. All the guys in the booth were laughing. Not only was it a joke, but who did he insult? He didn't say anything bad. He made a joke about Piniella butchering the spanish language and stealing his wallet. The only one he came close to insulting was Piniella and I'm sure that Piniella wasn't insulted at all. Piniella was laughing. Lyons was amking a joke. I can't believe that he got fired over this. It is ridiculous.

Rupert: Lyons' biggest 'fax paus' came when he made fun of a blind man wearing speciall digital headgear for watching the game. He apologised profusely after the incident, but I think that was the 'bananna peel' that started the slide....
