ROI Results 9/26 @ Santa Anita
And so at Santa Anita the futility continues. No winners and no cashed tickets again.
This is not an easy game. There are no awards for "being close" but Ruff gave it a ride to the warning track with a 25-1 horse who fell a half length short. I guess Joly and Cal were close but no Cigar. Off to the Preakness. In Oct. no less but it should be a packed field with a few good horses including the Derby winner. Following are the unofficial results. Joly B -$100.00 Real Quiet -$100.00 Cal828 -$100.00 Indian Hemp -$100.00 Ruffian -$100.00 Cruzan NB NJ Stinks NB

We've certainly had our difficulties cashing winning tickets this year. We have made it much too easy on RQ's scoring. Fortunately, we didn't need an ROI winner to select this coming Saturday's venue - even though it is the first Saturday of October rather than the third Saturday in May, it is still the Preakness and we by tradition will be playing it. At Pimlico, they start early and go all day, with lots of time between races.
Pimlico has tried to compensate for what could be a lack of enthusiasm for the Preakness by having a card with nothing but stakes races and moving some major races to this card. In the past, the Black Eyed Susan has been the feature on the day before the Preakness; this year it is the race just before the Preakness. Similarly, the DeFrancis Dash has been a staple of the Laurel season, but this year is race 7 on our card. I do have a question to pose to all of you. The final race on the card is the UAE President Cup [I didn't know that the UAE had a President] for Arabians. I happen to love to watch Arabians race, with their long tails streaming behind, but realize that not everyone likes to handicap Arabian races. Speed figures go completely out the window. I'd love to get a sense of our group of whether we would like to include race 12 or simply end our contest after the Preakness. I'm not sure what impact it might have on multi race wagers. |

Keep the Arabians as I will get back in the gate.

Welcome back Don. Didn't know that you were a fan of the Arabians. I don't know whether the immortal Ernie Banks was a horseplayer; if he were, he'd probably have said, "Let's play 12"

IMHO we should quit after the Preakness. By that time I will be out of money anyway!

Doesn't seem to matter whether it is racing pigs or wiener dogs or Arabians. I would say I can't do any worse, but each week I prove that I can. This is a $200 bankroll day right?

ARABIANS = MY FAVORITE OF ALL HORSES
Have loved and lost two beauties One to colic in 1 nite Destiny Who still cry over The other one to a freak accident caused by another person However since we do thoroughbred racing in our contest Perhaps we should not include the Arabians in our entry? Since some people may not be familiar with their running style or jockeys Loving and Riding one Is different than handicapping them Whatever you decide let’s just have fun! I'm not in contest but I do try to keep updated. Why not have R12 as an optional race. You use the 11 mandatory races & the Arabians are like extra credit. If you do it & win you get points, if you lose or don't do it, no loss. Just my 2cents worth. Good luck ta all who play.

Thanks for the comment. Anyone can join in either contest. The ROI is really easy. Normally a $100 on the given track on a Saturday. You can split it up to four races. Doesn't take long to post $100 to win on the #17 in race 8. And we'll track your bets. The more people who post, the better chance somebody shows a profit and we don't look like "rookies" like we have the past two weeks.
