ROI Results 9/07 @ Kentucky Downs
I thought the card at Kentucky Downs was the most challenging we faced all year. While it was
a tough day handicapping 3 players all found value in race 11. The handicapping in race 11, with a big 12 horse field provided some nice payouts. Grooms All Bizness in the race provided me with yet another headache. Digger gets the show spot by cashing his ticket on Cogburn who looked really good in the win. The winning ticket gave Digger a $25profit on the day. Cal had a really good day handicapping and had a tri and 2 superfecta'sin the race. His total profit on the day was a nice $136.40. Joly B gets the Kentucky Downs win via the exacta route. JB gets his repeat ROI win with a profit of $135.80 for the day. Congrats on the win Joly. Nicely played. My headache scoring centered around the scratch. JB lost $15 in bets. Cal only lost $9.60 on the scratch. While Cals total profitwas higher his ROI was 1.5086 by my figures and Joly's was 1.5976. With it being an ROI contest Joly gets the win. So please check out my scoring if there are any questions and make sure I did the scoring right. Twice this year this occured and truly it's a pain. Following are my unofficial results pending a review. See you all next week somewhere over the rainbow. And BTW, those purses on Saturday were amazing. WIN... Joly B... +$135.80... Nicely played tri and supers, Cal, especially the one you had cold. It's remarkable how one can find value in the various exotic pools even when your key pick is odds on and offers little value in the win pool.
I'm sorry to have "won" on the quirk of a scratch that you had called my attention to but I didn't change in time. |

I was lucky enough to get the 2 horse in 3rd at about 30-1. I hesitated quite a bit in adding that one. Going up in class and returning after a very short layoff, but I thought that Saffie Joseph must know what he's doing running the horse back like that.
