Default Hollywood 12/17 Late Pick 4

Pick 4 looks to be very tough today, so I'm just going to do a small $24 play and hope for the best.

7th: Going to single the 8, Desert Code. Training well over the Poly, and this group just doesn't look that good. Only the Baffert first timer Beyond the Rim and Gary Mandella's Albertus Maxiumus scare me. But going 6-1/2 furlongs for first timers, I'll side with the experience of the 8 and hope for the best.

8th: Would love to single Ramsgate, but the rail is a minor concern. Therefor, I must include Publication. Extra distance and Gomez should set this up nicely.

9th: Tough field for the Starlet. Remember last year when Diplomat Lady wired the field, beating Balance at 40-1. Could see another price tonight, as the 2-yo division for fillies is just so inconsistent. Going to take 3 in here. Going with the Frankel Maiden Down for a price, plus the speed Mistical Plan and Runaway Rosie. Just can't leave Gomez out of a G1 race that is this wide open.

10th: Typical crapshoot for the finale. Will include the 2 Figuratively, with the connections of O'neil and gomez with the big drop in class. I'll take the two speed horses in Chocolate Heaven and Remember Maggie. I'll also add in The Harrington 2nd timer Lady Yodler, as I can't tell you how many times a Swiss Yodler 2-yo has beaten me in the past.

To recap
8/1,2/8,11,12/2,3,4,13

I was shocked to see the 3/2 price on Down. I'm guessing some big money was laid on her by a few folks in the know, rather than it being everyone's wise guy horse. Either everyone respects Frankel that much, or it shows how little faith people have in this group of 2-yo fillies.

I'm guessing carryover...which is a mandatory payout on the final day at hollywood...
A slight longshot in the last race would all but assure it.

Only the 6,8,11 carryover. Anything else is going to be a monster payout.

I'm surprised by this. My (VERY) hypothetical big-player tickets for $1600 would have been live to the 4,9, and 16. You had 2 potential singles that both won in the 7th and 8th races...
