1/11: Aqueduct (R4-9/Late P4)
Both big P6 opps were capitalized on Wednesday, with somewhat odd returns. Aqueduct's sextet, a set of races with several impossible scenarios from which to narrow includes, returned a scant $12,000 given the difficulty of the gauntlet. An estimated 70 tickets were cashed, but had Maurice Avenue been able to outgame favorite Free of Secrets in their great stretch duel, 2 winners would have taken home $500,000 each...
At Santa Anita, 5 totally logical winners combined with one harder to spot price horse for a generous $18,000 score. Given the strong single of Fast Parade in the feature and very likely winners Fortunate Event (3rd) and Risen River (6th) earlier, a wider spread was needed in the 5th to find 12-1 ML class-dropping and newly-gelded longshot Rival Islands who won easily. Our day was awful early at Aqueduct before things started to go better on the second half of the ticket with 8th and 9th race trifecta hits to end the day. Catching all the exotics including the super in the SA 6th, and getting 2 consos in the P6 got us to break even on the day. That was a lot of work to make no money though... Hope you did well!
