I realize it's fairly irrelevent, but how is Super Saver the M/L favorite over Nobles Promise? Is it just the "Pletcher" factor?

If Lookin at Lucky ran back in this race instead of the SA Derby, wouldn't he be an even money favorite here? With Noble's Promise finishing right with Lucky in the Rebel, Cashcall, and BC juvy (and moving up on dirt his first start off the long layoff, just like LAL) I can't see him not being the favorite come post time.

Those were way too many abbreviations in one post. Was PG1985 really saying Noble's Promise runs last? I'm no fan of the horse, but that is a pretty darn bold prediction.

Noble's Promise is a good horse and is highly unlikely to finish last. If he moves forward even in a slight way off of the Rebel he'll be tough to beat. I'm shocked he was not made the morning line favorite.

It's interesting that Noble's Promise has run better that Lookin at Lucky in each of their last 3 races. In fact, Looking at Lucky has gotten significantly better trips. Anything resembling comparable trips and Noble's Promise buries him. YET, Looking at Lucky is a popular choice as a Derby horse and Noble's Promise is predicted, by some, to finish last in the Arkansas Derby.

And some wonder why this game still remains CRUSHABLE.

AeWingnut 04-07-2010 08:12 PM

well Nobel's Promise was going to run last. He'll beat a horse just to prove ...1985 wrong. I want Jon Court to win on Line of David.

Do you know who said that?

I don't think it is a good idea to talk about such things. I did it once and I really regret it.

I must have missed it.

What happened with the Nicky's Boy saga?

Happy for Jon Court! Glad it looks like he's going to get a Derby mount.

That is a nice story, guys been paying his dues around the country for years. Happy for Court as well.

California sweep of the Oaklawn Derby preps. A DRF article this week discussed the fitness that the synthetic tracks provide California horses when they ship out east to run on dirt.

I wonder if the Animal Planet folks wished they were following them this time around what with Joe Talamo and Jon Court looking at being on their first Derby starters. It'd be a huge deal for Jon to finally have this experience after all the years he's put into the sport. You have to feel good for him.

ArlJim78 04-10-2010 05:03 PM

Oaklawn is like throwing darts, they better think about changing that surface.

No; it's been cancelled. Ratings were pretty dismal the second season.

I was really surprised to see Jon out there winging it. But - he saved just enough. I hit the exacta and the WPS
but if Jon lets the 1 get by
I hit the Superfecta

I wish Jon could figure out a way to get that horse another 1/8th of a mile but I can't see it.

Can't believe people weren't drawn in by the trials and tribulations of Mike and Chantal---I mean, of horse racing.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-10-2010 07:51 PM

I might bet Dublin heavy in the Derby...
Again today a wide trip, with a premature move. When is someone going to sit on him and make 1 run?

Rat? He is a Grade 1 winner already. He has had a trip every race this year. He is dangerous.

alysheba4 04-10-2010 09:05 PM

Congrats. Wish I'd been able to play today, but I'm sure I would have given it back at SA.
