Default Monmouth / Atlantic City

I am considering taking a weekend trip to Monmouth for the upcoming long holiday weekend.

Any suggestions on places to stay? I checked The Borgata and they want $400+ per night avg. I am willing to stay near Oceanport, but would prefer my hotel to be in or near Atlantic City.

Also, I plan on going to AC at night after the Monmouth card is over - Is driving from Monmouth to AC a straight thru drive?

Any suggestions / tips on any part of the trip would be helpful and appreciated..

Rob, you do understand that they aren't exactly right next to each other? I would say that they are about 80 miles away from each other. I'm not sure where you are coming from, but good hotel rooms might be tough to come by due to it being Memorial day. It is a pretty straight run, most of it will be on the Garden State Parkway. Atlantic City is exit 38 and Monmouth Park is exit 105. It's about a 90 minute ride without any traffic disasters. Let me know where you are starting from and when and maybe I could give you an idea about a hotel.

Sure, I know AC and MTH are about 80+ miles apart.

I live in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area, was considering flying into Atl. City Airport Friday evening via Spirit Air ( $199 RT ), and playing poker, etc in AC Friday Night ( Borgata ). Then drive up to MTH Saturday morning, driving back to AC Saturday evening, then repeating this on Sunday. Then fly back Monday afternoon.

I certainly don't mind driving the 1.5 hours each way as long as it's a fairly straight through drive. I was also looking for tips on what/where to avoid on my drive.

I have never been to MTH and love to go to racetracks I haven't ever been to.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.

The problem with staying in a hotel/casino is that it's going to be pricey due to it being Memorial day weekend. There is a string of small (some dumpy) hotels on the Black and White horse pike, which is a short drive away. But this all depends if you don't mind staying off the beaten path. I'll admit I have never stayed in any of them, but it might be the way to go if all you plan on doing is crashing there for a few hours. Cab rides back and fourth to these hotels should be reasonable if you plan on partying.

As far as your drive goes, once you are on the GSP you are pretty much committed to whatever you are going to endure. Not sure how the traffic flows that early going south to north. But if it's anything like the traffic north to south, give yourself plenty of time.

Thanks for the info...

You only live once, so I'll probably wind up at The Borgata or one of the Trump properties. Hopefully I'll hit a pick 3 or 4 to pay for it.

Well Good Luck on whatever you decide. If you do end up going, PM me. Good chance on me being there Saturday. I'll buy you a beer.
