![]() I follow some horses that for whatever reason I put in my Horse Watch on DRF, and I left 'em on there because they were still in training--they went from being 'I can't wait to see what they're gonna do's to 'ok I'm curious what this horse is up to now because this is getting ridiculous, y'all.' Anybody else watching horses like that? Jess's Dream is probably the most common such entry these days. A new work or a maiden race entry is like a Bigfoot sighting with some of these.
There's a horse called Watchmaker that's a 5yo first crop son of Curlin out of Added Time that's finally starting at Presque Isle in a maiden special weight. Not sure if I noted him because someone mentioned him on At the Races when talking Curlin's first 2yos or because he got namedropped on Bloodhorse.com. He never went through auction so I suspect that's the only way I even know of his existence. He's a half to G1 winner Irish Smoke and the dam of G1 winner Book Review. I'm sure I saw that and thought it was worth keeping tabs. Anyway, I have no expectations. I'm just fascinated that something, anything, is happening. |

![]() I would have said Danza, but just noticed there was news today that he was retired to Spendthrift. I kept watching to see when he would come back, but just figured that he might have been retired awhile ago and I didn't see it. Took one hell of a long time for them to finally announce it. It was more than a year after his last race.

![]() If I can hijack this thread slighlty, I want to acknowledge horses who have been running big races and losing either by bad luck and/or a little hang finally getting it done. I nominate Joking from Saturday's 8th at Belmont. He's gotten really good, running minor stakes quality numbers, but continued to find one horse better, finally closed the deal on Saturday. Nice job by Charlton Baker with the 6-year-old gelding.

![]() Hey so I checked back on DRF and Watchmaker (the horse, not Mike Watchmaker, ha) does not have an entry up anymore, there's not one on Equibase, just his work 9 days ago. Scratched I guess? Oh well, so much for that.
