Interesting Jockey Statistics - Saratoga 2015
Diving into the jockey statistics now that the first half of Saratoga 2015 has shown some interesting facts. Thus far, there have been 1768 mounts including all races thus far.
The top 4 jockeys (based on wins, Ortiz Jr, Velazquez, Castellano, Ortiz) have collectively had 512 mounts, 29% of those available. From those mounts, they have accounted for 47.5% of the total wins. If you look at the top 8 jockeys, we have 910 total mounts for 51.5% of all mounts accounting for 74% of the total wins at the meet. As mentioned yesterday, imported jockeys from the Kentucky circuit have been struggling including Lanerie, Leparoux, and Hernandez, a collective 2-for-151 starting Day 21. Jara, Cintron, Arroyo, and Franco (surprisingly) are a combined 4-for-172. Carmouche (6-for-70), Bridgemohan (6-for-61), Cruz (4-for-39), Lopez (3-for-24), and Cancel (6-for-85) have done well to scratch out wins beating expectations in many cases. |

Good stats Scott. I had an idea that was the case but it's good to see the stats.
We're perplexed with Cintron. Apparently they love him, them guys at Fair Hill. Down here we just think he's a Del Park journeyman. A puzzle why they are riding him. Motion said he was like Ramon. I don't see that. People forget Ramon won races. |

Leparoux sucks balls. Very solid battle between him and Craig Perret for worst Eclipse winner ever.

Craig Perret was one of the most reliable and sought after money riders of the last 50 years. Every top veteran horseman you talk to loved him.

Hey I can appreciate that. Please do me a favor and rank Leparoux, Perret, Chavez, and Day on your horse to win a race?

Was never a big fan and never had success betting Pat Day (until right near the end of his career), but I'd have to put him first. Then Perret. Choppy. Leparoux.
