![]() Don, it is rainy in the East today, and Belmont is off the turf, but none of this is related to Hurricane Joaquim. It doesn't look as if the New York area will be greatly impacted by the storm.
Tomorrow's forecast for the New York area calls for morning showers, with about a 15-25% chance of rain for the afternoon. The weather picture gets better for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. While the Bahamas are getting hit very hard right now, the most recent stormcasts that I have seen suggest an increased likelihood that Jocquim will stay out in the Atlantic and not make landfall with the US. Of course, as we have seen in the past, those big storms can have a mind of their own. For tomorrow's races, I have to believe that every effort will be made short of bog conditions to keep a Grade 1 race such as the Flower Bowl on the turf. But, a couple of canny trainers have entered MTO's, so it would be advisable to check for any surface change. |
