Thoughts on the 2015 Breeders Cup Races . . .
1. Thrilled about American Pharoah and the results and style in which he did it. Dominating performance, great ride by Espinoza and brilliant training by Baffert. I can only imagine what a thrill it must have been to watch it in person. What's even more endearing about him is that when he's not racing, he's like your best friend's puppy dog when you get around him. As many have said and Baffert too, a once in a lifetime horse.
BTW - Very nice straight trifecta JolyB in the Classic. Not sure how you saw Effinex for the place spot but you were spot on. Hope you had some real money on that exacta or tri. 2. Songbird looks to be the real deal came home a second faster than Nyquist. Way to early to tell but she may be Derby material? 3. Runhappy and the Maria Borell story is great. And Prado riding and beating Private Zone at that in very respectable time 1:08 and change. All I can say is WOW and very cool all around. I'm thinking Maria will be getting many more horses now and be welcomed into the fraternity of trainers with open arms.

Thoughts From The Litter Box ---
I think it's an "Injustice" to run the Distaff on Friday! What I would like to see is this: Run the 4 BC Races from Friday on Saturday with the rest For a total of 13 Races on BIG BC DAY Let Friday be for the NON-BC Stakes Races I'm sure there are reasons why the "Powers" that be divide it this way -- But for me, I would rather see ALL BC races on Saturday Also: Many ppl work on Fridays and have to record the day then watch it all unfold that night --- Not as the excitement is happening in real time Just one person's opinion |

I've never felt that Breeders' Cup Limited was as interested in "justice" as they are in $$$$$$. The present format gives them revenue (both on track attendance at very high prices and TV revenue) for two days rather than just one. I just don't see them as willing to give any of that up. |

Looks like the story has a sad ending for Maria Borell. Trainer change coming https://twitter.com/IMariaValentine/...42500551610368 |

I have to admit I was pretty devastated that Beholder was unable to run. I honestly believed she had a good shot at winning. But after watching American Pharoah's performance I think she would have been a strong second, at best.
It certainly was a good day for the fillies and mares, though, with strong performances. If not for the cost of insuring AP through a campaign at four years old I think they might have kept him in training and not sold him so early to go off to the breeding shed. I would have loved seeing him in the Dubai World Cup next year. Did anyone see the picture of the connections of Mongolian Saturday in the winner's circle? They looked awesome and so crazy happy! I loved that they were dressed in their traditional garb. Loved Found's win, that was sensational. Overall, I think it was a great day of BC racing! |

Ryan Moore schooled Dettori in this BC - and I should have known better. 2 firsts and 2 2nd place finishes. Greatest jockey in the world. Played in my first BCBC and it was fun, but didn't hit anything big. Not as much buzz and excitement as the KD or Belmont this year. Weather definitely was a factor. . But Keeneland did an excellent job on logistics. Much better than CD and Bel. Took 10 minutes to get out of lot. Saw AP win three legs of Grand Slam in person. That's going to last a lifetime. Cheers, Otis
