Default RIP David Bowie

This is shocking and sad news. I did not know that he had been sick.

RIP Shocked as well, he must have kept the cancer battle from the media, which is an epic accomplishment in today's media and social media onslaught world. One of the greats, very sad.

Perhaps the most innovative musician of my time, and a triumph of individualism over conformity. Oh yeah, and one hell of a composer. The chord progression in Space Oddity will never cease to give me goosebumps.

neat cover, thanks OD...Space oddity takes me back to when I was a kid living in the woods of rural East Texas...we had only one radio channel we could pick up in the daytime that played music. I remember Bowie and how weird everyone thought he was....but not his music, it was memorable. He was a genius...Rest in Peace Music Man

Screaming liberal that I am, "Under Pressure" always gets me right in the gut, of course. Slate did a great piece on what makes the song so brilliant:

(Link to the video included, of course, along with a cool clip of Bowie's and Freddie Mercury's vocals isolated)

My favorite by far. His older stuff is great but this song is a standout for the simple fact it was almost spontaneous.
