Default Hammer Question

Maybe Steve can ask Hammer about the decision to offer show wagering in the Beholder race today. It was a 5 horse race with a huge favorite and most tracks would usually just say "No Show". I understand that and I think NYRA won't do show for 5 or under races. I've seen other tracks cancel show because of a big favorite. It's a losing proposition for the track.

Curious to hear the thinking and logic behind it. Last I heard there was over $500K in that show pool with almost all of it on Beholder.

Have heard Steve ask this very question and, to his great credit, Hammer said that Santa Anita runs a gambling operation and he thinks it would set a bad precedent if they changed the rules at the drop of a hat. I'm paraphrasing but it was a good answer. ,

It was especially refreshing on the heels of DMR cancelling their P4 "guarantee" not too long ago.
