I'm still processing it. I'm going to read it again but I don't recall him addressing drought/food shortages.

It can be a slower process which is also brushed over but if the droughts continue in our hemisphere and the winters remain brutally cold then his story comes to life.

That isn't really addressing the lack of solar activity which is a huge cause.
