And how do Americans celebrate this extraordinary success? By denying it. Every year Gallup asks whether crime has gone up or down since the previous year. Every year, rain or shine, the public insists, usually by overwhelming margins (63 percent to 21 percent in 2014), that crime has risen. “Most Americans Unaware of Big Crime Drop Since 1990s,” announced the Pew Research Center in 2013; only 10 percent of those surveyed knew that gun crimes had gone down since the 1990s. Criminologists say that many people get angry when told that crime is decreasing.

Perception is even more skewed where terrorism is concerned. “Terror-ism Worries Largely Unchanged,” ran another Pew headline, also in 2013. That year, 58 percent of the public was worried about another terrorist attack in the United States, a rate not all that much lower in October 2001, immediately after the 9/11 attacks, when 71 percent of the public was worried. A few months ago, perhaps influenced by isis’s atrocities, a large plurality of respondents told NBC News/Wall Street Journal pollsters that the country is less safe than it was before 9/11
Reality, once again, tells us otherwise. State-sponsored international terrorism, writes the intelligence analyst Paul R. Pillar in Cato’s A Dangerous World?, “is today only a shadow of what it was in the 1970s and 1980s.” As for the risk posed by terrorism inside the United States, to characterize it as trivial would be very generous. Americans are about four times as likely to drown in their bathtub as they are to die in a terrorist attack. John Mueller of Ohio State University and Mark G. Stewart of Australia’s University of Newcastle estimate the odds of such deaths at one in 950,000 and one in 3.5 million, respectively.

Facts and stats. What you claim you want.

As for refugees, you have railed against them from day one. You post a link thst distorts the facts in the original story, and think it tells the true story. No, it just fits your story. And then you have the nerve to say i am stupid or a troll. Amazing. You dont like what i post, so you once again stoop to name calling. Cannot argue the post, so attack the poster. Typical.
Plagerize much?

Distort. Throw up a straw man. Argue an argument that is not being argued. Find nonsenssical " facts" from Huffington post or other liberal rags and expect us to respect them as "facts". That is your game we are on to it.

Please spare us with the you are more likely to die in the bathtub nonsense. You can apply that nonsensical logic to anything. How many have to die before ANYTHING will ring the bell of statistical significance? Tell those parents of kids who lost their lives in San Bernadino and Orlando that terroisim is not a threat in this country. Tell those who lost loved ones in France and Germany that terrorism isnt a threat in their country either.

I have no clue what you are talking about regarding plagiarizing.
And you say go by stats, and then rant about telling parents about shootings. So, you are acting on emotion, not stats.
Lol
You being up supposed plagiarism, and then accuse me of using a strawman? Oh. That is rich.

And you also have a better chance of dying from falling out of your bed than dying from a terrorist attack.
And this is not a discussion about europe, but here. Also a strawman from you.
There are articles that explain why some are so worried about terror when you actually should be more afraid of a cow or your tv.

Oh, and watch out for coconuts.

LOL of course you have no idea Ziggy The Troll. Nice use of taking something completely out of context (stats) and apply it in a completley different area. You are a riot... HMmmmm... I think I may have stumbled on to something. Troll on dude. And nice use of taking past results taken during a different period of little potential terroist threats and projecting that during a time of increased threats.

Lol
You ask for thoughts and then cant handle any that do not jibe with yours.

The stats are not an opinion, the numbers are what they are. You do not like them and that they show you are incorrecr, so you attack the messenger.

I refuted those and your worthless plagerized post and you simply chose to ignore and burst into your typical everyone is attacking me mode. I point out that the policies that you are championing are failing miserably in Europe where terror attacks now are happening at an alarming rate and you choose to simply accuse me of a straw man and ignore. And then you present dubious statistics from sources that fit your agenda taken a time period much different than today and present it as if it will walk forward given what we are seeing in Europe.

Poor little ziggy the troll everyone always attacking you. When people that are usually on the same side of the issues as you start to attack it should give you pause.

I put most of the liberals on ignore. I'd rather just read your replies to 'em and laugh.

no post was plagiarized.
you didn't refute a thing.
do you really think we would resettle people here if they cannot be vetted? this isn't Europe. it's a whole different ball game there vs here.

we disagree on this issue, no big deal. and yes, it is an attack, as you concede. there's no need for that at all. and no, not everyone does that. most here can have an adult conversation without resorting to such things.

Blow up the trolls position make them look foolish and then starve them. Life is too short to interact with people who I haven't an iota of respect for.

Hey, I'm just glad that we can finally put the calls for gun control to bed, now that it's out there that gun crimes have gone down since the '90s.
