![]() A shame. Hate to see major investors in racing bow out. Especially one as successful and ambitious as this stable.
I wish Mr. Semersky all the best and congratulate him on his considerable accomplishments in the sport. Otis

![]() The naming policy will devalue them a bit. Never understood that. Most people subscribe to the axiom that it is bad luck to rename a horse, much like a boat.
I guess it's branding, but now. You have 150 horses named for a defuct entity. Similar to all those Karakorum horses. Well ďifferents, but the same inways. Just name them as horses and anyone can go on with them. |

![]() When you put "Conquest"'in every horse's name, you are letting the world know that your goal is to dominate.
At great expense, these folks did not. In his words a few years ago: Ernie in DSF: http://www.drf.com/news/conquest-sta...r-racing-world 10/03/2014 2:19PM Conquest Stables out to conquer racing world By Marcus Hersh "I looked at this like an IPO [an initial public offering of a publicly traded company],” he said. “You have to front-load the business. I front-loaded it quickly and heavily. I thought we’d start with the racing and establish a reputation for what Conquest is and hopefully develop some Conquest stallions out of that. I really believe, when you look at all the variables, if you get a few great broodmares, have enough horses that can run, and win races, I think you can make money with it. That wasn’t the goal, but the goal wasn’t to lose money, either.” His own word |

![]() That is why at the yearling sales and also 2YO sales most of the horses aren't named. People want to name the horse they've spent money for. Any consignor will tell you that, they told me if I was selling it to not name it.
With claimers it's a different story, names are almost never changed. People who don't care will bid, those who do won't. |

FYI, a name change is like $200 I think, so a name change is not going to be scaring anyone away from bidding on a horse. As long as the horse hasn't run, you can change the name a million times, for a fee per time. |

![]() They have had some nice horses and an interesting social media presence. Too bad they are getting out of the game.
