Track bias at Parx Jan 10
Other than the seventh race (the only one with a wire-to-wire winner), you wanted to be racing wide yesterday at Parx. It was pretty remarkable to watch horses who normally would be cooked traveling wide all the way around the course carry their speed farther than you’d think. Perhaps it was more of a dead rail, or a combo of both.
Here are the chart comments for the winners yesterday. R1) #8 HARD LABOR (2-1) rallied in the four path around the far turn to challenge for the lead, edged clear in upper stretch and was kept to a steady drive. R2) #5 COURAGEOUS COLONEL (6-1) came out and bumped with IT'S NOTHING leaving the gate, moved to the outside and raced in the six path while just off the pace, rallied to the lead on the final turn and drew off fully extended while drifting in. R3) #6 SHE'S SASSY(11-1) lodged her bid from the outside and was under a long drive to run down the leader in the final 70 yards. R4) #8 EXCLUSIVE SYMPHONY (12-1) raced outside, joined for command three wide near stretch, battled gamely outside of BLAVASTKI and got the nod. R5) #2 UPLIFTING (DQ) vied for the lead from the outset and between rivals to the turn where he was left with the rail, drifted out under a left handed whip nearing the furlong pole pushing BUBBA'S WILL wide into TRUE TO HIS WORD then drove clear.#8 BUBBA'S WILL (FTS put up as winner at 16-1) vied from the outset, was pushed out into TRUE TO HIS WORD nearing the furlong marker then held on for second. TRUE TO HIS WORD rallied from the outside leaving the turn to loom boldly three wide in upper stretch then was pushed out near the furlong grounds and missed for second. R6) #5 NOT BEAUCETTE (15-1 FTS) broke to the left smashing into the side of the starting gate, recovered and was sent up to race in the three path while just off the pace, raced in traffic near the quarter pole, eased out and then split rivals in early stretch and took the lead inside the sixteenth pole. R7) #6 WHATEVERYOUWANT (6-1) quickly went to the front to set the pace and was under a steady drive to hold NEXT RIGHT safe R8) #2 PHILLY COMPLETELY (12-1) stalked the pace between foes, fell back slightly before a half mile and moved out wider. took the lead nearing furlong grounds and slowly edged away. R9) #6 FAVOR FACTOR (12-1), racing in the three path while just off pace, eased out rallying, took the lead entering the stretch, opened a long lead while drifting out and won under strong handling. Will be interesting to see if the trends continue today. Cheers, Otis

Don't you almost always want to be wide in the stretch at that place?

Maybe so. But many of these horses were wide in the backstretch as well.
