Default Venue for April 22 - Charles Town

The Derby preps are in our rear view mirror. For the past couple of months, we have been religiously following the Derby trail for our contests, and it is fitting to have done so.

But, this Saturday with no more Derby preps, we are going to have a change of pace and visit the Charles Town races in historic Charles Town, West Virginia. This is their top racing day of the year, featuring the $1,250,000 Grade 2 Charles Town Classic along with 7 other slots enhanced stakes races.

The first post for the 13 race card will be at 12:45 PM Eastern time (one of the very few times of the year that CT doesn't race under the lights).

Look forward to seeing you in the starting gate in wild and wonderful West Virginia.

I don't envy this week's winner in having to choose a venue for next week. Since Churchill will be open, I suppose that we can fall back upon the cliché of "let's get a race over the track?"

No, I've never been to the races at Charles Town. Any time I get to that neighborhood, some magnetic force seems to draw me to the amazing town of Harper's Ferry, just a few miles up the road at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers.
