Default Venue for May 26 - Santa Anita

This Saturday is the beginning of Memorial Day weekend and a good time to keep it simple and straightforward. We will be going to (hopefully) sunny Southern California for the full card of racing at Santa Anita Park.

The card includes the Grade 1 Gold Cup, the Grade 1 Gamely and the Grade 2 Charles Wittingham. I believe that first post will be at 12:30 PM Pacific time. The condition book suggests a 9 race card (always thinking of you Plen and RQ). From the early news articles, it is possible that the fields for the major stakes races will be relatively small but quite competitive. Hopefully we will not see the massive scratches and boggy conditions that we encountered at Pimlico last weekend.

Very nice JB I was in LA mid last week and it was rather cool/mild much to my surprise. Nice job on the Preakness card I thought I might catch you down the stretch but you pulled a Justify on me and would not relent.

My new job/project will take me back and forth to each coast the remainder of the year. Starting Nov I will spend most of the project mtg/site visit times in the Tampa area.

Sounds as if you will be seeing a lot of DFW. I'm sure that you know that the season at Tampa Bay Downs usually begins in late November. If you ever have an expense account dinner in Tampa, you might want to check out the wine list at Bern's Steak House. Nothing short of impressive.

Sounds like $$$$$. My expense per diem is good but not that good. But I could supplement now and then!?
