Default A week off and we all deserve it . . .

As we always do, after The Breeders Cup and close out of the handicapping year, there will be no contest next weekend. Enjoy the time off and don't forget to VOTE, if you haven't already taken care of your privilege and duty as an American.

Thank you all for playing and being who you are. Ya'nose how much I luv's ya!!!

Thanks for posting this Don. After a week of handicapping 14 races with entrants from all over (you remember, comparing a horse's performance in the Prix de la Foret with another's in the Prix de Moulin) and then watching two exciting days of racing, many of us are experiencing handicapping hangover. And that's without taking into account any race day beverages that may have been consumed.

But it was well worth it to see some great performances by horses and riders alike. I will not soon forget the sight of Enable and Magical battling toward the wire, each one giving her utmost, ridden by two of the best jockeys on the planet. And now I'm ready for a short freshening.

Let me also echo your sentiment about the importance of casting your VOTE on Tuesday if you have not already done so.

ENABLE is out of this world. She may be (arguably)the best filly if not race horse ever, for sure the best in the world now. What an amazing performance and Frankie sits on her like he connected in his ride the same as the Na'vi were to their Direhorses (think that's what they are called).

BTW - the comparison is perfect since Avatar and Enable are both beyond superlatives. Interesting that before the race a saw Dettori leaning over her neck and he was talking to her or perhaps singing to her for maybe a half a minute or more, not sure but I'd live to know what he was saying or doing. Then after the race you could see him leaning over her neck again giving her little kisses. I'm not sure I will forget any of this and beating the boy's again after "merely" winning the Arch 2 years in a row. Unbelievable.!!!

Odd to see that only Cruz and I picked her to win in Points. Wait I'm wrong on that, it was Accelerate that only the two of us picked.

Sure but ain't gonna happen. You tell me. Are you doubting Enable's ability and legacy? It's like saying if Secretariat and Justify or American Pharoah ran a race together, who'd win? You tell me. I hate match races. Haven't they been outlawed/banned for ohhhh 30 years at least on the big circuits. Sorry Ruff but your throwing out a question that begs NO Answer and I took the bait.

I'll leave it at that. WINX great . . . ENABLE great! In the moment (which is where we are now at, I think) Enable wins hands down!!!

And do really think the competition is equal to what ENABLE has faced. I have no clue about Australian racing and the quality of horses. but i'd guess it's sub-par to American and Europe.

So who was the filly that won all the races in a row in Louisiana that never lost a race. Same questions in a match race with ENABLE, who'd win. I know her races were not G1, 2 or 3's, it's a stretch I know but I'm showing you how ridiculous it is to match past and previous horses up in match race and ask "who would win?"

So you hooked me Ruffian.

It was a fun two days, but way too many races to handicap. I usually just play a few of them. Sometimes I play the last 4 or 5 on Saturday. This year I played 2 on Friday and 5 on Saturday. All the races I played were on dirt.
These seemed to be the easier ones. I played exactas and hit in 4 of the 7 so ended up winning a little. They were all pretty chalky. None paying more than $25. I think I won enough to buy a cup of coffee depending upon whether you buy it at Starbucks or a McDonalds. Oh well, looking forward to the new contest(s). Should be fun.

Cal, I'll bet that your cup of coffee will taste exceptionally good if it's paid for with your winnings. Glad to hear that you had a winning couple of days.

Thanks. I think I have finally learned that exactas are the way to go for me.
I like playing tris because they pay so much more, but I'm afraid they are a bit of a siren's song that I am going to try to resist in the future. These exercises that we do here really are important and instructive not just for the lessons in handicapping, but also for the lessons in wage construction and wager choice which I think I tend to pay less attention to. I will still play tris, but for lesser amounts. Ok, stepping down from the pulpit now.
