ROI Results 8/10 @ Arlington
Well there weren't a million winning bets at Arlington on Saturday but there were more than a
few. 8 tickets were cashed but only two point slots were filled. Joly and Cal both hit the pick 3 featuring the Grade 1 races and both cashed 6 $1 tickets but the odds were against them and no profits were found. Plenilune came close with a place bet in race 11 but she too fell a little short of profitability. Roamin just missed another big win when Blue Sky Cowboy could only finish second and NJS hit a pick 5 in a pick 6 sequence missing with two horses in his opening array. Two players did manage to take a little cash home. Don Guido had a $50 win bet on Marzo in the 4th which returned to him $200. His lead held up until the 12th and final race but Real Quiet zoomed on by to take the days contest. Real Quiet hit exacta's in races 8 and 12 and collected $468 for his arrays. That was win # 7 on the year for RQ (Ruffian and Roamin have 5).so it's the year of the R's. However Real Quiet and Ruffian are not anywhere close to a positive ROI while Roamin is already locked into a profitable 2019 so in order to catch Runaway Roamin any challengers better step up thier game. Just want to report that I played the Pick 6 and late Pick 4 Saturday at Arlington. The Chad Brown Pick 4 paid peanuts - the value was in the Pick 5 and Pick 6 for sure.
Congrats on another win, Chad - I mean RQ!

Congrats on your win, RQ. I was astounded how heavily the Chad Brown pick 3 and pick 4 combos were pounded. Had expected that several others in each of the legs would get a lot of play, but the bettors knew better. $6.70 is as small a pick 3 as I've seen in quite a while in races with decently sized fields.

I'm just waiting for a return to Saratoga so that I can try my hand at the new $0.20 Empire Pick 6 that NYRA has just started to offer, even though I'm pretty sure that a $100 bankroll isn't large enough to properly cover the 6 races.

I like to give them a try every once in awhile, but it usually ends up for me like last Saturday. I have no clue which races I have a good opinion in and which ones I don't. I have been going with tris and doing fairly well with them for awhile, but then hit a losing streak so thought I'd give something new a try. I concentrated this time on the last 5 races and actually had decent opinions on the top 3 finishers in 3 of the 5 races so a bit frustrating to actually lose money when I might have won sticking with the tris, but on we go. Handicapping with me is always a work in progress even after having done it for so long. One of these days, I'll learn how to do it..... or not.

DG, I mostly use a dart board and if I'm really desperate (most often I am) I pull out the Quija Board and check it with my 8 Ball.

It was nice of Ms. Ruffian to give us an occasional reminder of her winning techniques, but I think we might be more interested in knowing Roamin's methodologies as he seems to be leading this parade. I suspect he is just masquerading as a mild mannered former truck driver and purveyor of card games in Vegas and in reality, he is a former NASA scientist and has developed his own algorithms for predicting the outcome of races.
