Default 9/5: Nick Tammaro’s Saratoga Analysis presented by NYRA Bets

SARATOGA – 9/5/20
Nick Tammaro ~ @NTamm1215

Race 1- 1st #1 KAZ’S BEACH 2ND #3 TACKLE 3RD #6 ANCIENT TIMES

#1 KAZ’S BEACH faced a tough field for the level at Penn National on debut and now figures to be a major pace factor from a cozy inside post. #3 TACKLE was a game 2nd on debut againt similar foes and now faces a weaker field with some experience under his belt.

Race 2- 1st #1 WIN WITH PRIDE 2ND #6 DEEP SEA 3RD #5 WUSHU WARRIOR

#1 WIN WITH PRIDE takes an enormous class drop for a barn trying to win a trainer’s title. He faces much weaker than he has of late and should be rolling in the stretch. #6 DEEP SEA goes first off a claim by Orlando Noda, whose barn continues to roll at this meet. He needs to improve to win this thing, but trusting high percentage stables is always a novel idea.

Race 3- 1ST #2 WINIFRED J 2ND #7 SILKY BLUE 3RD #6 MAGNOLIA’S LADY

#2 WINIFRED J is the one to catch after an embarrassingly bad ride last time out from Javier Castellano. She is capable of much better and will be dangerous is properly ridden today. #7 SILKY BLUE is a late threat on the cutback in distance as she exits a good 2nd place finish going long.

Race 4- 1st #4 MY SISTER NAT 2ND #5 ELIADE 3RD #1 CIVIL UNION

#4 MY SISTER NAT is the one to beat exiting a win in the Waya for trainer Chad Brown. She needs some pace help but appears to be better than the rivals she meets today. #5 ELIADE ran a vastly improved race last time out and won’t be hurt by the extra ground they’ll traverse here.

Race 5- 1ST #1 MUNQAD 2ND #5 OLYMPIAD 3RD #3 DIRECTIONAL

#1 MUNQAD is bred well and is reportedly training well for his unveiling. The inside post is no bargain, but it will steer some in other directions and lead to a better price here. #5 OLYMPIAD was bet heavily on debut as part of a fancied coupled entry. He likely needed that race and should improve at 2nd asking.

Race 6- 1st #1 CARRIZO 2ND #7 SAY MOI 3RD #6 DON’T CALL ME MARY

#1 CARRIZO might just get the right setup in here and should offer value. There’s reason to believe the pace could heat up and that would greatly help her chances. #7 SAY MOI is the one to beat on the cutback in distance, but she is going to offer no value at the windows this afternoon.

Race 7- 1st #7 SIFTING SANDS 2ND #9 HIDDEN ENEMY 3RD #8 LEASE

#7 SIFTING SANDS is a firster by Dubawi, whose progeny are 10-45 in their turf debuts. The dam here was winless, but she produced Group I winner and 2015 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf favorite Legatissimo. #9 HIDDEN ENEMY is a late runner who ran a bang-up race on debut and should improve at second asking. The rider change to Joel Rosario only helps his cause.

Race 8- 1ST #3 GOOD OLD BOY 2ND #7 JIMMY JAZZ 3RD #4 BARLEEWON

#3 GOOD OLD BOY faced a salty group of veteran turfers last time out and ran a very strong race to win. He showed increased speed in that win and should be in a stalking position from the outset today. #7 JIMMY JAZZ moved early and aggressively in a fast paced race two back then sat too far off a slow pace last time out. His running lines are better than they look and he will be a square price today.
Race 9- 1ST #9 LUNA’S IN CHARGE 2ND #13 UNCLE GEORGE 3RD #12 INSIDE INFO

#1 HAPPY SAVER has shown flashes of brilliance in two prior starts and now steps up in class. He drew a cozy inside post and should get the jump on the two favorites toward the outside given his tactical speed. #7 MYSTIC GUIDE is a late runner who just might be sharpened up by the addition of blinkers. He needs to be ridden a bit more early and should be set for improvement 3rd off a layoff. #6 DR POST draws Irad Ortiz, Jr. as he drops in class off of tries against Grade I company. He was dull in the Haskell and needs to improve to win this thing.

Race 10- 1st #2 UP IN SMOKE 2ND #4 SECONDARY MARKET 3RD #6 HELLO BEAUTIFUL

#2 UP IN SMOKE is a live longshot as she drops in class after trying the Test. She got no pace setup that day and still ran on gamely. A hot pace would help her cause and she’ll be a very nice price. #4 SECONDARY MARKET is a potential player as she looks to step up her game following a very strong win against N1X company. She has always shown potential and is another who’ll offer value. #6 HELLO BEAUTIFUL is a speedster who lost all chance at the start last time out at Ellis Park. She is a threat to go the distance today with a clean break.

Race 11- 1st #2 TACITUS 2ND #4 GLOBAL CAMPAIGN 3RD #5 SPINOFF

The much maligned #2 TACITUS is in position to pick up his first Grade I win today after trouncing a weak field in the Suburban. He towers over his rivals on paper and the 10 furlong distance is obviously ideal for him. #4 GLOBAL CAMPAIGN is a threat simply because of his early speed, as he exits a game win against weaker at Monmouth. If he gets clear in this bunch, he is a threat go to the distance. #5 SPINOFF was an impressive winner against lesser last time out and will look to end a 5 year drought in Grade I dirt routes at Saratoga for trainer Todd Pletcher. He has tactical speed and should be in stalk and pounce territory from the start.

Race 12- 1st #9 TRAFFIC PATTERN 2ND #4 DOUBLY BLESSED 3RD #3 KID CHOCOLATE

#9 TRAFFIC PATTERN drops in class after trying tougher at Monmouth last time out. He got involved in a wicked hot pace that day and tired late, but now can sit and make one run today. #4 DOUBLY BLESSED is new to the barn of Mike Maker off a layoff. He was a game winner against soft company at Monmouth last time out and has upside.
