Nicole Russo | Aug 07, 2021

Following are horses to watch during the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale. Horses were selected based primarily on their pedigrees and the racing or commercial results of notable family members. The selections reflect catalog updates and sale outs through July 20.

Night 1: Monday, Aug. 9

Hip No. 36, colt by War Front – Agreeable Miss, by Speightstown. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.

War Front is an internationally popular commercial sire, and this colt is bred on a proven cross with the stallion. Unraced Agreeable Miss is the dam of six winners from as many starters, including stakes winner Alkaraama and stakes-placed King Neptune and Faydhan, all by War Front. She also is the dam of Group 1-placed stakes winner Mark of Approval, and this is the family of Grade 1 winners Wild Rush and Vasilika.

Hip No. 41, colt by Justify – Appealing Zophie, by Successful Appeal. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.

This is the first crop for Triple Crown winner Justify, who is averaging $553,423 from 13 career weanlings or yearlings sold worldwide through July 20. Grade 1 winner Appealing Zophie is the dam of 2017 Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit, who sold for $1.2 million at this sale as a yearling. The mare also is the dam of Grade 2 winner Ride a Comet and stakes winner Inject.

Hip No. 45, colt by Justify – Bar of Gold, by Medaglia d’Oro. Consigned by Sequel New York, agent for Chester and Mary Broman.

This is the second foal out of millionaire Bar of Gold, who capped a long and productive career by winning the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. The mare is a half-sister to two stakes-placed runners, and this is the extended family of successful regional sires Half Ours and Yankee Gentleman, the type of hook attractive on the catalog page for a stallion prospect.

Hip No. 66, colt by Munnings – Come a Callin, by Dixie Union. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent.

Munnings is having an outstanding season, with 11 stakes winners through July 20. This is a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and divisional champion Caledonia Road, as well as stakes winner One of a Kind and stakes-placed Officiating. Hip No. 92, Failsafe, colt by Tapit – Feathered, by Indian Charlie. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

Perennial leading ontrack and commercial sire Tapit is crossed over emerging broodmare sire Indian Charlie. Feathered, a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed, is the dam of a pair of winners from as many starters, including exciting maiden winner Flightline, a seven-figure yearling. This is the family of Grade 1 winners Dancing Spree, Fantastic Find, Finder’s Fee, and Furlough.
