I finally discovered the reason that led to the confusion ![]() The original first post announcing the extra points is buried on page 3 on my iPad The Horse Racing Goddess Entered my mind with a suggestion “ Try Going Back Into Previous Pages “ She Was Absolutely Correct ![]() Last edited by RUFFIAN : 05-05-2022 at 11:56 AM. |

![]() You might be right about the goblins, although I think I would call them gremlins. Often times I have to sign in 3 or 4 times before it finally recognizes me and lets me in and often when I post it tells me I have already posted and have to wait 30 seconds between posts even though it is my first attempt at posting. Steve B. said awhile back that there were problems. Maybe this is what he was talking about. Computers sometimes seem to have a mind of their own. Artificial Intellegence, I guess, at its finest.

![]() After being held without fans last year, the Kentucky Derby welcomed more than 51,000 fans to Churchill Downs in Louisville on Saturday. It was the largest crowd to gather at a U.S. sporting event since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The official attendance at this year’s Derby was 51,838, according to organizers. The number is a fraction of the 150,000 or more fans who typically fill the stands at the annual event; but, as local reporters pointed out, the Derby crowd was still larger than the 47,218 people who attended the University of Alabama’s spring football game in mid-April — which, at the time, had been dubbed the most crowded sporting event in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic. |

Also, you need to look at the points totals again. I think they are wrong, but maybe not. Maybe you just haven't completed them with April 30th scores? Last edited by cal828 : 05-06-2022 at 11:48 PM. |

exacta: 3-1 last place horse: Summer Is Tomorrow (does DNF count as last?) Congrats on your pick for last. You nailed it. Sometimes I think these extras don't have much value, but we probably all got a new tool for our handicapping toolbox and that is to be sure to put a bet on whichever horse Don and Joly and Plen choose to finish last. ![]() ![]() I'm just surprised it wasn't me. I used to have a friend that had a house on the street just behind the Oaklawn backstretch. I used to go over to his house and we would walk over to Oaklawn. Anyway, he wasn't much of a handicapper so I would share my thoughts on the races. He would usually do better than me. So I asked him, "how come you do so well." He replied, " I just bet whichever horses you don't like." |

The scene in our family room yesterday was probably typical of many homes during the Derby stretch run. My wife and I were watching, and I was intently watching the duel of Epicenter and Zandon as they approached the wire. Both of them seemed to be struggling to get the final 1/16th. I was alive to both of them in the Oaks/Derby Double and was already calculating the will pays. I think that I shouted, "who's that on the rail" and after seeing a #21 (didn't recognize the saddlecloth color) proceeded to throw my clipboard and pen into the air and sit there dumbfounded. Leon gave his horse an incredible ride through traffic, passing numerous very tired horses. |

![]() Indeed. When you watch the overhead he got a great trip in a 20 horse field. My horses generally get boxed in with a 6 horse field.

![]() So funny. I think I told you the other day that I put $300 in my Xpressbet account before last year's derby and I played on it all year. At one point, I lost down to about $100 then won it all back. At one point yesterday it was up to about $480 then the last two races came along and I lost what I was ahead. Glanced at my total at the end of the day and it was $300.04 cents. Wondering when the IRS is gonna call for their penny.
![]() Anything can happen in a 20 horse field. I think we all think of it as "so what, if I lose?" It only comes along once a year. How can we regale everyone with tales of Derby glory, if we don't play. Such thoughts are dangerous to a person's internet account. Last edited by cal828 : 05-08-2022 at 10:14 AM. |
