Default 8/12: Colonial steeplechase race 1 - 3

Colonial Downs has 3 races, a Maiden Special Weight, a low level ratings handicap and the Randolf D. Rouse Memorial stakes for fillies and mares all at 2 ¼ miles around 4 turns over 9 jumps. Post time is 11:45 EST and can be watched and wagered at Twinspires.

Only 6 runners show up in race 1, the Maiden Special Weight with 3 runners that are true maidens with no career wins.

#1 Palio has the most experience over jumps with 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 5 attempts, ran the fastest time over the course and distance and has average flat track speed. #4 L’Avvocato was running well at Radnor when rider Jack Power fell off 4 fences from home, has great distance breeding from Frankel and good flat track speed. #2 Pavoni ran well at Nashville, has the best flat track speed, and was towards the front in last at Colonial before tiring. #6 Dark Pool (4th) the filly against the boys gets in light at 141, has good flat track speed and may run at bottom of tris and supers.

Selection:
A) 1 (WON $5.40) - 4 (fell)
B) 2 (2nd)

Race 2 is a low level ratings handicap for experienced jumpers. #1 Jimmy Dan has two wire to wire jump wins this season and has the best flat track speed. #2 Exuma ran fast over the same course and distance 7/18 and was competitive in all 3 jump tries. #3 Two Past Eight for trainer Leslie Young makes his American debut over jumps and will be ready with 2nd leading rider Jamie Bargary. #5 Lydford (SCR)finds his friends with a class drop and may run at the bottom of exotics.

Selection:
A) 2 (fell) - 1 (WON $6.00) - 3 (2nd)

Race 3 is a $100K filly and mare stake with 8 runners. #1 Haint Blue ran 2nd to the boys in a stakes race at Great Meadow, beat #7 Exculpate in her maiden debut and shares the best flat track speed for the Dalton team. #7 Exculpate gets an extra pound off in weight from #3 My Forever Annie after beating that runner at Nashville, and has a course and distance front running win at Colonial. #3 My Forever Annie is 155 high weight and will finish strong for trainer Leslie Young. #2 Afraid Not runs well at Colonial and may hit the bottom of tris and supers.

Selection:
A) 1 (3rd) - 7 (WON $9.20) - 3 (SCR)

$1 P3 (A-A-A) $27.60

Good luck at the races!
