Default Petition on the ADW fiasco

In an effort to bring some attention to the horse players getting continually pushed around but the constant wrangling of signal licensing among racing authorities and ADW's (Advanced Deposit Wagering sites), paceadvantage.com has posted an online petition in the form of a thread. It is the intent that this petition is printed out and presented at the Jockey Club meeting this week in Saratoga. Please read and sign if you feel it appropriate.

Thanks,

Bill Weaver

Maybe we can start this as a thread and you can cut and paste, instead of all of us going over there and signing up. I do not have a Paceadvantage and I want to be lazy.

Yes, I brought up the problem and as with Steve's site PA requires registration for good reason. I asked the admin about a way to allow non-registered people to sign and he didn't see an easy solution.

Dual thread is a good idea (with Steve's and PA Admin permission). I'll follow that up.

Thanks, Scav

It is a good idea but the Jockey Club doesn't have much to do with this. They just register horses and make up stupid rules about silks.

CS,

I think the hope is for some visibility (any visibility!). Distribution certainly doesn't have to stop there (we know industry types are reading PA's board for instance). Seems that the interest of a few are being protected and a lot of us (horsemen, owners, players) are getting jerked around. It's a start anyway.

I agree that you have to start somewhere. Send a copy to guys like Gary West (the writer not the owner) and Andy Beyer and maybe they can drum up a little support.

We should seriously consider a boycott and plan it on just a regular day, like a Thursday, where everyone just takes it off and does something. It we make it like three months out, I guarantee it would hurt them a little bit.

ceejay, I am giong to start working on it actually. I am bored. I know of a couple other places and I am going to put a post on as many board as possible.

1) Derby Trail
2) Track Champion
3) Pace Advantage
4) Barn to Wire
5) Thoroughbrednet.us

Any others would be greatly appreciated. What I want to do is do it when both Tracknet and TVG has tracks running so it can kill both of them, show them the power that we possibly have. It is only going to work if thousands do it and do it for the whole day. I think a Thursday is perfect because people will not do it on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday but they will give it up for one day on Thursday.

I don't feel pushed around. What exactly is the problem? I use Bris and YB and I have no problems at all. I get free DRFs from YB and free Bris pp's at the other. I personally like the fact there is competition in the ADW industry. The inconvenience of possibly needing more than one ADW account is more than offset by the pricing competition that exists by having more than one provider. If you consider yourself pushed around by the ADWs, I think you'd really feel shoved hard if there was no competition.

What exactly is the problem?

The ADW's should have all tracks and not have to pay outrageous fees to get them. Sure they have the 'availability' to get them but they would lose money to take them. They would have to differiate themself by SERVICE and perks instead of TRACKS they care. Arlington Park has every single track possible for simucasting, why should I have to use three separate services, some with only phone wagering and some with retarded rules?

They need to understand that it would be better for the industry and better for the PLAYERS, the people that RUN the industry, that have all tracks on ALL ADW's would be even healthier competition then having to play Arlington/Churchill on Winticket and Saratoga/Del Mar on Youbet. I used to be able to play all four on one friggin ADW, and having to go from screen to screen, it is garbage.

Here's what I think:
1. ADWs should carry the tracks they can agree to a contract on. The fees they pay are not generally outrageous, imo. Rather they're quite modest.
Why should an ADW or a simo facility keep more of the takeout than a host track?
2. It's not as if these ADW-Racetrack contracts are unilateral. If a deal cannot get done between a track and a specific ADW provider, it's just as likely the track as the ADW was the reason a deal did not get done.
3. If every ADW had every track, that would hurt competition. The smaller handle ADWs would get squeezed more and more until they went bust.
4. The only way you will get what you're asking for is if the CDI/Magna platform gains enough traction so that it is the exclusive ADW for those tracks. And that assumes they will somehow pick up NYRA ad DelMar. I don't think it is going to happen.

I know you'll get a good response @ PA. You might try http://www.horse-races.net/derby/ too.

I, for one, rarely play Thursday's so boycotting a Thursday would be only symbolic for me.

I like that! I'll get on it this evening. Hope to catch you at the barn this week!

Thanks Chuck,

No, you should consider yourself lucky, so lucky, to have the right to spend your money with these companies. They treat us customers like they are doing us a favor by allowing us to wager on their blessed tracks.

My handle is way, way down at Tracknet/Youbet-TVG. But hey, there's no problem here....
