Default Pictures from Aldebutante 9/14/2008

http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLan...localeid=en_US

So, as everyone already mentioned it was a great time at Belmont. It was my first visit to the facility and my first impression was the size of it. I parked near the entrance from the LIRR and was able to peek at the track before I entered. I was at the 1/4 pole at the turn for home and boy was it a long way to the finish line. I took a moment to reflect just how great the thoroughbreds who have won the Triple Crown were and ferverently hoped that someday we will have another. I also hoped that the racing authorities don't change the dates and/or distances. It truly is a remarkable feat to accomplish.

Anyway, it was a beautiful day in Elmont NY. A bit hot and humid for my taste but I was thankful that there wasn't rain. Steve, as always, was the consummate host. Box seats for all.

We got to see Lieutenant Ron get beat (and Kelster get the exacta for that race). There are some pictures of him in the Aldebutante album.

There was a great turn out of DTers and everyone seemed to have a great time. Aldebutante was such a professional in the saddling area. She was calm, composed and collected. She has filled out since I saw her last in March.

There are some nice pictures of her after the race, covered in dirt. Aside from that I found it difficult to get really good photos. Coming down the stretch I could barely recognize her since our silks were covered in dirt.

There were lots of DT cameras going and I think we will see many more, and better photos from some of the other members. I am especially waiting for Tyler's pictures - he had several cameras with a variety of lens strenghts (which is definitely the way to go - switching lenses means losing the shot).

Again, another great DT outing. Thanks to all for making this a great day.

looks like she took some dirt. no wonder I had trouble picking her out in the race. she and the silks looked much different turning for home than they did on that brutal backstretch.

Thanks for the pictures

thank you for all the pictures. I didn't realize what "getting dirt in her face"
really meant until I saw the photos. hope to meet everyone in the future.

Default Commitment

While you guys just looked like you were out for another day at the races, Sunday was a special race day. And, getting to Belmont was no trouble for those from Maryland, upstate NY, Mass and probably lots of other locations. Wow! That's commitment!

Rhoda and I came from Connecticut. Frankly, we wanted to meet you and bond. I guess it's kind of difficult without an introduction, especially when so many are trying to scope out the next winner. We did get to say hello to the two Nicks, Karen (without Mark who was off betting), Tyler and Darren and Chris. Would've liked to meet you all and get to know you.

I've achieved some bonding by just looking at your comments and photos. The photos are terrific!

As for the race, Rhoda likes a horse with a big butt. I guess Aldebutante will have to put on a few pounds. Let's hope she's just green and will learn a thing or two from this experience.

Hope to see you in the Winner's Circle. It's a great experience to share.

Best,
Avi

Chris and Darren -

Great shots, thanks. I was too busy 'capping and losing money to get some pictures of Eye of Taurus so was happy to see them in your spread.

Great to see you again.

hmmm, that pretty much sums up my two visits to Belmont.
Still had a great time nonetheless.
