Hes entertainment though and I commend him for avoiding the stupid polytrack discussions and the overblown Barbaro threads. Man I have never been so sick of a horse in my life as Barbaro. God bless him and I hope he recovers but he gets more press than Jason Giambi gets shots in the azzz.

i think it's toned down a lot....bernardini is the one getting most of the press.

it's a good story tho. i seem to remember repent complaining about smarty threads a few years back! of course, you could always get him to leave that alone by bringing up hoty azeri...

where is that guy anyway?

I believe Smarty stands on some farm in PA but I could be wrong. I loved Smarty, the only time I ever bet him was when he lost, LOL, I can get any horse beat! LOL!

That made me laugh, too, and I freely admit to having an unhealthy obsession with his recovery... Barbaro's, that is. Not so much Jason Giambi's azzz.

That's awesome that you saw most of them. Wild Again was pensioned a couple of years ago, right? Did he still look fat and happy?

he was out in his paddock munching away.
i asked if there was any way to see slew o'gold. shot down in flames. 'he's not on the tour' she said. dammit. and since i refuse to grovel, esp when it would be futile, i left it alone.

rahy is a HAM! poses for the camera. war chant is full of himself.

but i enjoyed claiborne more. monarchos is a big puppy. have pics of me and him, i could have petted him all day, he wouldn't have minded i don't think. but the groom on the other hand...and tony...

pulpit was very well behaved, as was arch...seeking the gold, i wouldn't want to be the one to handle that guy! but the highlight of the entire trip, danzig! so glad i got to see him.

we also went to the cemetary there, it was very touching. and i know they buried danzig there this winter. the groom said that when they lost devil's bag that at first when everyone found out a horse was down, they all thought it was danzig. thank goodness it wasn't.

so much history there...easy goer, secretariat, mr p all still have their nameplates on the stalls they were in...eddington wasn't there yet, but he's going to his old mans stall.
wonder where first samurai will be? maybe in danzigs old place, since they're related...a bit distantly, but still.

it's so nice that they stall a horse where a family member once was.

Thank you for telling me about it... I'm so glad Monarchos was nice. One of our clients is his breeder and he really helped put Two Bucks Farm on the map for them. I hope I can visit Claiborne one day as well.

cajun--I saw albert the great two years ago when I was there--he was sound asleep and never woke up even though there must have been twenty people in the barn---his groom said "that's the sleepingist horse I ever did know" (real quote word for word).

Danzig,

I am sooo jealous! Just a month ago I was telling my husband we had to go to Ocala to visit some horse farms when the "big" guys were there. I haven't looked into it yet. My mom lives up there and is going to look into try and getting us some tours if possible.

Thanks for sharing your stories of visiting the farms. I enjoy hearing them.

Let me know when you finally get to Belmont and I'll try to come out that day, since I'm not planning on leaving NYC anytime soon.

LOVE the recap of your farm tour!
