Rumor has it Jamie Dixon (Pitt coach) will take the Oregon job. Not happy that Pitt is moving to the Big 10. Not sure of the validity but the source is usually spot on when it comes to Pitt Athletics.

They're saying this is a done deal?

Huge loss for Pitt & the Big East (or Big Ten, if they end up there, which is a real possibility.)

dixon looks pretty close to a done deal, although you never know with a last minute raise etc..... The big 10 is not as sure although everyone but men's bb is for it. Looks like there may be a direct corelation.

I wonder if his contract covers an unlimited supply of Dapper Dan during his tenure.

Dixon crazy to take the oregon job. he's built a better program at pitt. he's going west for the $$$. not always a good reason.

Dixon got a few more years and some more $$$. He seems happy here so I was surprised by the rumor. He got the extra years and cash so it was worth feigning interest. Good for him, he is a good coach and a nice guy.

I hate to tell the Big 10 but they already have a network and no one in the NY-NJ market watches Rutgers anyway.

Sorry Phil...

LOL. No disagreement there, especially in basketball.

it's not about getting the big10 network into the ny-nj market. it's about getting the national games into the ny-nj markets and invading big east, acc markets.

I personally think, that has no chance of ever happening for basketball.

Lavin will be a mistake if SJU can't get local assistants to step in and help. He's a name though, and kids should at least know who he is, so I would think that he should be able to step in and be successful from day one.

Definitely lesson learned for anybody who works for the asshat AD at BC from now on though: if DeFilippo tells you it's ok to interview, don't.

that's the plan. admins. gave Lavin what he wanted to go get ny guys to help recruit and make the contacts again. i'd love to see SJU be a major player again.

That was a wild rumor a couple of months ago, but it had no legs so I thought it was just a rumor - I'd hate to see it personally... No more Backyard Brawl

I think Lavin is a mistake. I guess if you are a coach at BC you can't show any interest in another job or you get canned, new coach beware.

Dan,
I think the WVU game and or Notre Dame would be the only games they would consider keeping. I wish they would stay in the Big East and have Paterno retire(or worse) so they can play Penn State again.
