![]() On October 20, 1997, he was arrested and detained overnight for allegedly holding a knife to his wife's throat and threatening his 17-year old son.[30] Johnson was later charged with aggravated assault and was ordered to stay away from his family.[31][32] The prosecutors dropped the case several months later after his wife declined to press charges.[33] Johnson reportedly went to counseling to repair his marriage.[34]

I never understood why this guy was left out of the conversation for great players during his era. There was nothing he could not do on a basketball court. His contribution to the Celtics during the Bird years cannot be overemphasized. When his playing days ended he stayed in the game by coaching in the NBA developmental league. A non-smoker, never over weight with minimal risk factors for coronary disease, he dropped dead after coaching a basketball practice where an autopsy revealed a 100% blockage of the coronary artery (LAD) most essential for heart health. He was 52..... |

![]() I can hear Johnny Most's raspy voice now...
"Aaaaand...now there's a steal by Bird...underneath to DJ, he lays it in. OH MY GOODNESS" Cue shot of goofy ass Bill Walton with both hands on his head and mouth wide open. Greatest sports memory of my childhood. Almost 23 years ago...where does the time go? |

![]() Other than Red, I don't think there has ever been anyone that loved everything about the Celtics more than Johnny Most.
I remember CBS used to have the NBA games on Sundays many moons ago. Quinn Buckner used to be on the broadcast. CBS did a feature on Johnny Most after he had both his legs amputated and was confined to a wheelchair (still calling the C's games). Johnny talked about how happy he was finally being pain free, etc... When the feauture was over, they came back to Quinn and his studio partner (can't recall who it was) and there was Quinn crying like a baby on National TV. Johnny was forever faithful to the Celtics and the players loved him. |
