Waiting in Vain?
Per Jay Hovdey (his blog) Asmussen, on the Roger Stein radio show, commented that:
"while Rachel Alexandra is in fine fettle physically, his crew has been so far 'unsuccessful' in returning her to what Asmussen defines as her competitive level of last year.' This doesn't sound too positive at this point in time. |

She worked 12.80, 25.40, 37.20, 48.40, 1:00, 1:12 galloped out 1:25.20 this morning.
That's kinda brisk for a Tater Salad horse. |

I'm rather optimistic that it occurred to them that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So she really did look sharper than before? Is there a chance in Hades that she makes the Stephen Foster if her next outing shows she's more like Rachel of old? Gonna be hard to avoid at least thinking about it if Zenyatta's in her backyard. |

I have to keep reminding myself that Asmussen is still learning about this filly. I mean when he got her last year, she was dead fit and all he had to do was keep her on edge and put her in a race. Wiggins did all the training to get her to her peak fitness. I only hope now that they have confidence in where she is at physically, and turn her loose...
